Norwegian halehelter - hvem, hva, hvor?

Norwegian Air Shuttle Tail Art

Would anyone please know the reason why for sometime now Norwegian Air Shuttle appear to have stop painting tail art on their aircraft. I think there are 20 or so aircraft with plain white tails currently?

Re: Norwegian Air Shuttle Tail Art

Too few famous dead people in Scandinavia at the moment..?

Re: Norwegian Air Shuttle Tail Art

Lower costs, perhaps...

I really do not know, but is is now more than a year since the last new tail image was released

Re: Norwegian Air Shuttle Tail Art

Well, perhaps Norwegian could use pictures of some of the LIVING Scandinavians..
I could name 2....the only 2 Scandinavians who was the first astronauts...A swede and a dane..and there are lot of others,,, also some who are not among us anymore...

Re: Norwegian Air Shuttle Tail Art

I'm suspecting that the individual tails are about to disappear. It makes little sense flying from Cork to Boston with a Norwegian poet on the tail. Besides, the fleet is now so big that managing these tails is a lot of work - which means substantial cost to the company.

I'm pretty certain that we soon will se a 'generic' tail on the Norwegian fleet.

The tail heroes were a clever move when Norwegian was
building up business in Norway as a 'people's carrier'
(ref. the Norwegian flag of Braathen) and later in Sweden and
Denmark, when a number of famous Swedes and Danes were
added to the empennage.
In fact the tail heroes made good sense in Scandinavia
considering our intertwined history and culture!
However interestingly and perhaps tellingly, despite having a
base in HEL there are only two tail fin Finns (pardon the pun!)!

For the curious the tail heroes also have a sort of educational
twist to them! For instance I had no idea who Gunnar Sønsteby
was when I went on board LN-NGG last November! I then did a
little research and could later relate to the Norwegian WW2
resistance fighter when I came across his name during a
vacation in Norway.

Somehow I wish that DY would stick to their guns and keep the
tail heroes, however I'm afraid that LN-MOW has a very valid point!

And that will be a welcome change. The idea of national heroes painted on planes seems terribly outdated.

Re: Norwegian Air Shuttle Tail Art

Thanks for the responses.

It will be a shame if the NAX tail art disappears.

It's been nice taking images of them at Gatwick over the years, and my Norwegian blog,
(see link below) hasn't had many updates lately owing to the lack of new NAX tails!

It would be nice to get an official Norwegian Air Shuttle stance on this, my contact at Norwegian no longer works for them.

All the very best

Terry

Nice site, Terrywadeairbus !

I like the tail heroes because they set Norwegian apart from the rest! There are plenty of carriers with red/blue/white stripes on the tails already!

Not that it makes any difference for most people I suppose, when it comes to choosing a LCC! If they can save ten quid, they'll go for the cheapest!

I've just received a reply from the Norwegian Press Department re tail hero's, see below:

' We have had quite a few aircraft delivered so we’re getting ready for a new set of tails early next year '

So hopefully we will see some more next year!

Ref tråden om de nye haleheltene til Norwegian

http://forum.flyprat.no/showthread.php?t=135224

Så har de nå kommet med en pressemleding om saken
http://media.norwegian.com/#/pressr...ste-spanske-halehelter-1254004?utm_source=rss
