Aerion AS2 - nytt overlydsfly

Aerion's planned production system for its AS2 supersonic business jet is evolving as Airbus's role in the programme begins to deepen. In particular, notes Barents, the Airbus engineering centre in Wichita is participating directly, with that facility's director John O'Leary attending an internal programme review at Aerion's offices in Reno, Nevada, this month.
Airbus Group chief executive Tom Enders said in an interview earlier this year that supersonic travel was a long-range objective for the group, telling a French journalist in February that he envisions a distantly future Airbus aircraft that could fly from Paris to Sydney, Australia, in 2h.

Fractional jet supplier Flexjet has signed a firm order for 20 Aerion AS2 supersonic jets, providing a critical boost for the 12-year-old the high-speed aircraft development project.

“Today, we are proud to be at the forefront of the next revolution in business jets, supersonic travel,” says Flexjet chairman Kenn Ricci.

Flexjet (LXJ, Dallas Love Field) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Bombardier (BBA, Montréal Trudeau) for the purchase of twenty Challenger 350 business jets.

In a related development, the VIP charter specialist also placed a firm order with Aerion (Reno/Tahoe) for twenty AS2s. The Aerion AS2 business jet will have a top speed of Mach 1.5 carrying eight to twelve passengers up to 4,750 nautical miles. The three-engine jet, now under development by Aerion in collaboration with Airbus Industrie (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac), is expected to make its first flight in 2021 and enter service in 2023.

https://www.aviation24.be/manufactu...-first-supersonic-business-jet-on-the-market/

Boeing today announced a partnership with Aerion, a Reno, Nev.-based company pioneering next-generation supersonic aircraft. As part of the agreement, Boeing made a significant investment in Aerion to accelerate technology development and aircraft design, and unlock supersonic air travel for new markets. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

MAKAN!
