Small Planet Airlines expands to Germany with the incorporation of Small Planet Airlines GmbH. The company’s office base is Berlin.

Small Planet Airlines has begun offering its services to the German market with agreements already signed with some well-known German tour operators.

“Germany is a strategic step that we have been considering for quite some time. Now that we have found the right partners with local expertise we are ready to make this move.” – said Mr. Vytautas Kaikaris, Small Planet Airlines CEO.

The intention is to establish a German air operators’ certificate (“AOC”) and to operate flights under the German registration, basing aircraft at both main and regional airports across Germany. The management of the business will be in the hands of Mr. Andreas Wobig and Mr. Oliver Pawel who were previously with Germania.

Dette synes jeg er både overraskende og litt oppsiktsvekkende. Her går man altså motsatt vei enn den utviklingen i den senere tid har gått. En operatør i et tilnærmet lavkostland, iallefall sammenliknet med mange andre europeiske land, etablerer seg i et høykostland som Tyskland. Spennende. Det er motsatt vei sett ift f.eks DAT, Primera Air osv.

Small Planet Airlines (S5, Vilnius) Head of Marketing, Simonas Bartkus, says the ACMI/charter specialist's newest subsidiary Small Planet Airlines Germany (Berlin Schönefeld) will begin operations later this quarter.

In an interview with airliners.de, Bartkus said Small Planet Germany would partner with German travel broker Involatus in offering scheduled charter flights from Hanover, Hamburg Fuhlsbüttel, Münster/Osnabrück, Dusseldorf, and Zurich to Fuerteventura and Las Palmas in the Canary Islands. Paderborn/Lippstadt remains a possibility but is still subject to confirmation, Bartkus added.

Under the terms of the deal, two A320-200s will be based in the Spanish islands for the duration of operations this winter.

Small Planet's planned Summer 2016 roster will be disclosed later in the year with aircraft to be operated by Small Planet Airlines Germany.

Small Planet Airlines Germany (Berlin Schönefeld) says it has secured a deal with TUI Deutschland amid plans to operate flights from Bremen Neuenland and Paderborn/Lippstadt to Rhodes, Heraklion, Kos, Menorca, and Burgas during the summer 2016 season.

A total of fourteen flights per week, or more than 300 in total, are planned with the German tour operator.

The Small Planet Airlines (S5, Vilnius) subsidiary says it hopes to secure its German Air Operators Certificate (AOC) during the first half of next year following which it will be able to operate operate flights under German registration.

Small Planet Airlines Germany will commence operations later this quarter using a pair of A320-200s based out of the Canary Islands for flights from Hanover, Hamburg Fuhlsbüttel, Münster/Osnabrück, Dusseldorf, and Zurich to Fuerteventura and Las Palmas. Operations are in conjunction with air broker Involatus Carrier Consulting GmbH, but will initially use aircraft on the AOCs of Small Planet Airlines or Small Planet Airlines Polska (P7, Warsaw Chopin).
