Estonian Air to get its third Embraer
20.03.2012
The third 76-seater Embraer 170 with register number ES-AEC has landed at Tallinn Airport. The aircraft carrying the new livery of Estonian Air is delivered to Estonian Air under a lease agreement with Finnair. Altogether Estonian Air will get four Embraer E-Jet aircraft from Finnair.

The fourth aircraft will be delivered to Estonia within nearest weeks.

Estonian Air has selected Embraer E-Jet family to support its long-term strategy. Embraer is the largest producer of regional aircraft. Estonian Air is estimating a requirement for 12 Embraer E-Jet aircraft that enable the company to increase flight frequencies, open new destinations and to operate at least double daily services to main destinations in Europe. The airline is committing to pragmatic and sustainable growth in the future.

The national flag carrier of Estonia and Embraer have signed a contract for the purchase of three E175s and one E190. Estonian Air takes eight additional aircraft, four E170s and four E190s, under a combination of lease agreements with third parties and leasing companies. The direct purchase from Embraer is subject to the approval of Estonian Air’s Supervisory Council.

AS Estonian Air, Estonia’s national carrier, is the biggest operator at Tallinn Airport. Estonian Air focuses on improving the connection between Estonia and the rest of the world with the aim of increasing competitiveness as a network carrier hub.

Estonian Air flies to 24 destinations in CIS, Scandinavia and Europe. The airline has added new destinations to its flight schedule, such as Helsinki, Riga, Jyväskylä, Hannover, Vienna, Venice, Joensuu, Kajaani and Thbilisi.

The ticket prices start at 39.90 euros, if purchased from www.estonian-air.com, including all fees and taxes, baggage, snacks and soft drinks on longer flights and soft drinks on flights that last less than 1 hour.

Estonian Air is the National Partner of the 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Finland.

Estonian Air Regional to add its fleet a third SAAB 340
16.03.2012

The third 32-seater SAAB 340 has landed at Tallinn Airport yesterday evening. The aircraft will serve Estonian Air flights to nearby regions already at the end of March. The third SAAB with register number ES-ASO is operated by Estonian Air Regional under a lease agreement until the end of 2012. Estonian Air Regional, a 100% owned subsidiary of Estonian Air, operates shorter regional flights of Estonian Air.

“Estonian Air needs the third SAAB to serve its increased summer flight schedule. The same time we are working to replace the existing SAAB fleet with new generation turbopropeller fleet. The time schedule for the change is depending on the availability of these planes,” said Rauno Parras, the Chief Commercial Officer.

Estonian Air to add two Embraer 190 aircraft to its fleet
09.05.2012
The national flag carrier of Estonia and GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) have signed a contract for the lease of two new E190 aircraft, which will be delivered to Estonia during the first quarter of 2013.

Estonian Air has selected Embraer, the largest producer of regional aircraft, as a regional jet manufacturer. Estonian Air is estimating a requirement for up to 12 Embraer E-Jet aircraft that enable the company to increase flight frequencies, open new destinations and to operate at least double daily services to main destinations in Europe. The airline is committing to pragmatic and sustainable growth in the future.

The first four 76-seater Embraer 170 were delivered to Estonia in February 2012 under a lease agreement with Finnair. The company is currently negotiating with the manufacturer and lessors on the delivery schedules and conditions for up to six additional aircraft. These aircraft will be a mix of E-175 and E-190 models, which offer 88 and 112 seats respectively. The aircraft are scheduled to enter the fleet in the 2013-2015 time period.

According to Tero Taskila, the President of Estonian Air, Embraers are well suited for the company’s new strategy. The E-190 aircraft allows Estonian Air to improve the schedule into longer destinations, like Paris, Amsterdam, London, and to open new destinations.

The final flight to Tallinn - Kajaani - Tallinn will be on 13 September 2012.
The final flight to Tallinn - Riga - Tallinn will be on 18 September 2012.
The final flight to Tallinn - Tbilisi - Tallinn will be on 15 October 2012.
The final flight to Tallinn - London - Tallinn will be on 15 October 2012.
The final flight to Tallinn - Hannover - Tallinn will be on 26 October 2012.

Final seasonal route flights:

The final flight to Tallinn - Venice - Tallinn will be on 1 September 2012.
The final flight to Tallinn - Nice - Tallinn will be on 29 September 2012.

Estonian Air to start flights to London City Airport from March
18.09.2012

From 1 March 2013, Estonian Air will be opening the gateway to Tallinn from London City Airport with three return flights a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Starting from 2 May 2013, Estonian Air will add Thursday flights serving route with four return flights a week. From 1 June 2013, the route will be served with six weekly flights every day except on Sundays. The flights will be operated with the new 112-seater Embraer 190.

“London has been an important destination of the Estonian Air’s network and we wanted to improve the current schedule with two weekly flights with more frequent one. The start is tied to the delivery of the new Embraer E190 jet. Flights to new London City Airport with more frequent schedule giving our customers greater choice when travelling between Tallinn and London,” said Tero Taskila, the CEO of Estonian Air. "I would like to stress that our new flight plan suits considerably better the business travellers by making the connection between the two capitals not only more frequent, but also shorter in duration."

Declan Collier, CEO of London City Airport said: „London City Airport is delighted to welcome Estonian-Air and we're very much looking forward to the commencement of the LCY-Tallinn service in 2013.“
„Known as one of the most rapidly developing economies in the Baltic sea, Tallinn is establishing itself as a destination of choice for UK travellers - who will now be able to get there via the only London airport actually in London - quickly and easily. Tallinn will also provide passengers with easy connections to Moscow and St Petersburg.“

"I am delighted that agreement has been reached between London City airport and Estonian Air on a new route between Tallinn and London, starting in the spring. A route into City Airport offers both business and leisure travellers excellent, fast connections into the City of London and the rest of London and the South East, as well as good and easy onward flight connections at City. The plan to upgrade by next summer to a direct service flying six days a week will also be a big positive change which should attract many more business and leisure travellers, in both directions. This is great news for both the UK and Estonia," says Christopher Holtby, the British Ambassador.

"This is extremely welcome news for both British and Estonian businesses. A regular point to point service between Tallinn and London as the financial centre of Europe is critical to the continued growth of commercial links," says James Oates, the Chairman of the Board of the British-Estonian Chamber of Commerce.

Flights from Tallinn will departure at 7:30 and arrive at London City Airport at 8:20. Flight from London City Airport will departure at 8:50 and arrive at Tallinn Airport at 13:30, all local times.

London City Airport is ideally located for passengers who need to fly in and out of London quickly and efficiently. London City Airport is the only airport situated in London itself. Financial and business centres Canary Wharf and the City are three and six miles respectably from London City. Both London’s well known tourism destinations West End and Westminster are situated only 10 miles from the airport. It means that the average journey time into central London is 20 to 30 minutes with public transportation.
The airport is accessible via fast rail-connection which is well integrated into London's tube network. Single train ticket costs during weekdays 4.80 pounds (6 euros). Off-peak, future Saturday connection, price for the ticket is 2,90 pounds (3,60 euros). A sample train and tube ride with three connections to Piccadilly Circus tube station will take 34 minutes. Waterloo station, with such popular sights such as Westminster and Big Ben right across the Thames, takes two connections and 25 minutes.

Welcoming over 3 million passengers in 2011, London City Airport is not only uniquely convenient, but offers a uniquely rapid transit, through check-in and security to the departure lounge and gate, of around 20 minutes. Estonian Air will join the 12 airlines flying out of LCY, serving over 40 destinations including New York, Dublin, Madrid and Geneva – the latest additions for 2012 are Aberdeen, Venice, Basel, Mahon, Angers and Quimper. From April 2013 Tallinn will be added.

The new route combines two convenient and fast airports. London City Airport boasts the shortest check-in times in the UK with 15 minutes for New York and 20 minutes for domestic and European destinations. Tallinn is the fastest airport in Baltics and Scandinavia.

One-way fares from London City to Tallinn start from 79.90 EUR if purchased from www.estonian-air.com. Ticket includes all fees and taxes.
AS Estonian Air, Estonia’s national carrier, provides both business travellers and tourists direct air link from Estonia to European cities. Estonian Air is the biggest operator at Tallinn Airport.
Estonian Air focuses on improving the connection between Estonia and the rest of the world with the aim of increasing competitiveness as a network carrier hub. The airline flies currently to 23 destinations in Europe, Scandinavia and in CIS.
Estonian Air was recently chosen among the top 5 airlines in Northern Europe by Skytrax.
