Noen kjekke utdrag:

Well I am a maintenance type..Although I was line avionics and that work item was left to the A@P's I can tell you that water sterilization was a most frequently "whipped" item. Meaning it was never accomplished but signed for as though it was..Add to that the potable water hose connector we had was NEVER supposed to touch ground but I saw that it did frequently..So that is why I NEVER EVER got on board coffee on an airplane..If it wasn't in a bottle I didn't get it..

Coffee and tea are boiled. I don't think much nasty stuff is going to be in there.
Bunn-type coffee makers which pour the water through the coffee grounds at relatively high speed, do not boil the water. It's hot, sure, but nowhere near boiling.
I've been involved in the water sterilization process, I know what is involved. I was never happy with the amount of sterilizing agent that was put into the tanks; far too little. The final straw was when, at a former job with a large UK based scheduled/charter airline, one of the guys told me about a problem with water pressure in the taps in one of the toilets on one of their large Airbus aircraft many years ago. Turns out when they broke down the supply line they found a dead, three foot long tape worm......
