CO gaar over til Star Alliance!!!

Først må vel CO akseptere invitasjonen fra Star Alliance.
Derettter starter integreringsprosessen opp, noe som normalt tar 12-18 måneder.

Fant denne informasjonen angående integreringsprosessen til Star Alliance på nettet:

According to Marcus Puffer, director for networking and marketing development with Star Alliance, the process of integration involved a host of issues and normally takes 12-18 months.
You must understand that our integration involves as many as 75 elements under 12 categories ranging from flight safety to membership agreements, Puffer added.

Så det går vel en god stund ennå før vi ser CO i *A.
Tidligst i 2010......

Dukket opp på mailen min i natt:

In June 2008, Continental announced plans for extensive commercial cooperation with United Airlines and Star Alliance, linking our networks and services worldwide to deliver new benefits to our customers. We pledged to keep you informed of developments and would like to provide you an update.

Regarding SkyTeam, Continental intends to end its participation in the SkyTeam Alliance after the last scheduled flight on Oct. 24, 2009.

We continue to work through the details of our planned exit from SkyTeam and entry into Star Alliance, but anticipate our participation in Star Alliance will begin promptly after we leave SkyTeam. We are committed to providing our OnePass members with opportunities to earn and redeem miles over an extensive network.

We will be working hard with our good partners at SkyTeam, and our future good partners at Star, to make the transition from SkyTeam to Star Alliance as smooth as possible.

You can expect to receive updates from us as we continue to develop our participation in Star Alliance. Remember the most current updates may be found at continental.com.

As always, many thanks for flying Continental. We appreciate your business.

Sincerely,

Mark Bergsrud
Sr. Vice President, Marketing Programs and Distribution

Og da har CO fått tentativ tillatelse fra Amerikanske myndigheter om å bli med i Star Alliance ved å gi dem antitrust immunitet

http://news.prnewswire.com/DisplayR...STORY=/www/story/04-07-2009/0005002531&EDATE=

WASHINGTON, April 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) today tentatively approved the application for Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL) to join the existing antitrust immunized alliance between United Airlines and eight other Star Alliance member carriers, and for Continental to enter into an integrated worldwide alliance.

In addition to Continental and United, the eight Star Alliance members receiving tentative DOT approval for antitrust immunity are Air Canada, Austrian, bmi, Lufthansa, LOT Polish Airlines, Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), SWISS and TAP Air Portugal.

Star Alliance, Continental win antitrust immunity

Heisann!

Da var det neste hinderet klarert...! Detta gaar framover skal du se... ;)

Wednesday April 8, 2009 The US Dept. of Transportation yesterday approved Continental Airlines' entry into Star Alliance, granting tentative antitrust immunity to the carrier and certain Star partners and to CO's proposed transatlantic joint venture with Air Canada, Lufthansa and United Airlines.

The alliance and the four carriers seeking the JV, to be called "Atlantic Plus-Plus," petitioned for antitrust immunity last summer (ATWOnline, July 24, 2008). ATI enables airlines to coordinate their operation and act as a single carrier for international air services, sharing capacity, sales and marketing and revenue.

In a statement released yesterday, DOT said CO's entrance into Star and the quartet's JV "would be in the public interest because it would support increased levels of service in international markets served by the carriers, give consumers more travel options and shorter travel times, and reduce fares." UA and LH have held transatlantic ATI since 1996.

Atlantic Plus-Plus must be implemented within 18 months as a condition of immunity, DOT said, adding that airlines would remain subject to antitrust regulations with respect to their domestic services.

"Continental's entrance into Star Alliance will provide substantial benefits for consumers worldwide while preserving domestic competition and jobs." CO Chairman and CEO Larry Kellner said. "In addition, a timely final approval will allow Continental to provide a seamless transition for its customers from the SkyTeam alliance to Star Alliance this fall."

ATI granted to the alliance covers the aforementioned four carriers as well as Austrian Airlines, bmi, LOT Polish Airlines, SAS Group, Swiss International Air Lines and TAP Portugal.

DOT said objecting parties will have three weeks to file their statements regarding yesterday's ruling. Oneworld members American Airlines, British Airways, Finnair, Iberia and Royal Jordanian expect DOT to issue its decision on their ATI application in the second half of this year (ATWOnline, March 17).

Soelv= 25K EQM i aaret, Gull (som gir *G) 50K
