Blue1 doubles its fleet with Boeing 717 passenger aircraft

The Finnish airline Blue1 will invest in Boeing 717 aircraft for its fleet to meet the needs of its rapidly expanding route network and increasing operations. The modern Boeing 717-200 with 120 seats represents the top of the short and middle-range aircraft types. The first Boeing 717 aircraft will join the expanding Blue1 fleet in the autumn of 2010.

Blue1 is focusing more and more on becoming a business travelers’ airline, with a strong emphasis on both the number of routes and operations. The contents of the service product are also being renewed to respond to the new needs of the Finnish business traveler. The Boeing 717 has an important role in the company’s route strategy and the growth of operations, as well as the service experience for our customers.

The Boeing 717 is modern aircraft type, representing the top of its size in the regional jet range. It has been designed to operate on frequent schedules in short and middle-range flights and exactly meets the requirements of Blue1’s future traffic plans. In terms of fuel consumption and environmental effects, the Boeing 717 is top of its class, enabling efficient operations for the benefit of our customers.

With 120 seats, the Boeing 717 represents a new level of travel comfort in the Blue1 fleet. Designed for regional operations, the Boeing 717 equals larger aircraft in terms of its fuselage size, offering roomier travel comfort in both leg room and sitting space with five-abreast seating. The luggage storage, important for passengers, is equal in volume to that of larger aircraft.

The first Boeing 717 aircraft will join the Blue1 fleet in the autumn of 2010. The total number of aircraft in the fleet will be nine within six months. With the acquisition of the Boeing 717, Blue1’s aim is to double its fleet in a couple of years and to transfer to a fleet of just one type of aircraft.

Flowing – the new faces of air travel in Blue1

The Finnish airline Blue1 will renew its livery. The new appearance, Flowing, will represent the identity and business solutions of Blue1, the new era of air travel. The new appearance is being implemented in innovative cooperation with the School of Art and Design at Aalto University.

Blue1 is strongly directing its course in becoming the airline for Finnish business travelers. The new direction will soon appear in the most visible part of its operations, the fleet. Blue1 is to invest in the new Boeing 717 aircraft and, with their arrival, will renew the appearance of its fleet, one aircraft at a time, beginning in the autumn. Blue1’s new livery will represent a customer-friendly, fresh and young choice for the Finnish business traveler. The new visual appearance of the Blue1 fleet, Flowing, will reflect the identity and business solutions of the company. Blue1 is a young Finnish challenger airline, believing in courage and new solutions in the new era of air travel.
“In the new solutions for air travel, the customer’s service experience is now playing a more important role than before. The essential feature in this is the face of our fleet. The new visual appearance reflects the origins of our company – Finland, cleanliness and lakes – while it tells about a customer-friendly and young option, about the new era of air travel,” says Juha Järvinen, VP Commercial at Blue1.

The new appearance is being implemented in cooperation with the School of Art and Design at Aalto University. The Flowing appearance has been designed by Annukka Saikkonen and Magali Abraham, students on the graphic design programme. The Blue1 aircraft have always been named after Finnish lakes, but now the water theme is being fulfilled visually in the Flowing appearance. The Flowing theme will reflect the various forms of Finnish water, each having an individual design in the aircraft. The future aircraft will all follow the Flowing theme, yet all aircraft will have their own individual appearance, making the renewal of the fleet’s appearance truly unique.

In the new Blue1 commercial solutions, the added value for the customer is based on strong, profitable partnerships, new co-operational models and service innovations. The School of Art and Design is the leader in graphic design in Finland and therefore a natural partner for Blue1 in building a service design for the new traveler generation. The co-operation with Aalto University is enabling Blue1 to expand the service design to all of its service chain.

Blue1 focuses on growth –
renewing route network, fleet and service product

The Finnish airline Blue1 is getting ready for the new era of air travel by focusing on becoming the airline for Finnish business travelers. The company will expand its route network, renew and develop its service concept to meet the needs of the modern Finnish business traveler, and double the number of its aircraft.

As the airline industry is in transition, Blue1 sees the future in a positive light and will be ready for the growth in the air travel markets when the recession reaches an end. The company is getting ready for the new era of air travel by focusing its products and services more strongly towards the changing needs of Finnish business travelers and their travelling preferences, yet not forgetting leisure travel.

Started at the beginning of 2010, the expansion of the Blue1 route network is continuing. Blue1 is investing heavily in the present and upcoming business travel destinations in Europe and expanding its route network both in the number of destinations and departing flights. The service benefits of the current business concept, Economy Extra, have received good feedback and will be further developed in terms of new forms of service.

The increase in the route network and number of take-offs will be implemented by investing in a fleet change as of autumn 2010. Blue1 will acquire Boeing 717-200 aircraft for its fleet, intending to use just one aircraft type for the entire fleet, and to double the size of the fleet over the next couple of years.

Blue1 will build the future travelling means of Finnish business travelers together with strong partners. Producing value and responding to the overall needs of travel in Blue1 will be implemented in the future together with the Star Alliance and other strategic partners and by using innovative cooperation models.

The Finnish airline Blue1 is strengthening its position as the airline for the Finnish business traveler. In the course of the next twelve months, Blue1, together with the Star Alliance airline companies, will launch several new routes and services, aiming to offer the best global connections for Finnish business travelers.

Blue1 will focus more and more on business travel. With the new Boeing 717 aircraft type, Blue1 will expand its route network and increase the number of flight connections, especially to the business destinations in Europe. Servicing business travel, the new Blue1 routes to Brussels and Berlin, and twice-daily flights to London Heathrow, will be accompanied by new routes to Munich in September and Amsterdam in February. The strong input will continue by doubling the number of flights to Zurich in November and Paris in February.
Blue1’s strong domestic and Scandinavian operations will be further developed. A direct Oulu-Stockholm route will be opened, and there will also be a second daily connection from Helsinki to Gothenburg.
There will be new morning and afternoon operations on the Kuopio-Helsinki route, increasing the number of daily operations to four on weekdays. The seasonal destinations of Kittilä and Kuusamo will have daily operations as of the beginning of December. The return connections to domestic destinations from abroad will be significantly improved on the domestic routes.
The new destinations, additions to operations and new global connections with Star Alliance airlines are a significant improvement in the Blue1 route and connection supply for the Finnish business traveler.

New modern pricing structure and product concept
The Blue1 service concept in terms of the entire travel chain will also be renewed to respond to the changing needs of Finnish business travelers. An important role will be played by the new Boeing 717 aircraft type, which will join the Blue1 fleet in the autumn of 2010. The travel comfort is the top in its size, enabling the development of the aircraft’s service products to meet the needs of present and future business travelers. Launched in Finland, Blue1’s Economy Extra Premium service class fulfils the needs of the modern business traveller with its efficient Premium Check-in Service, Fast Track Security Check in many major airports, and a plentiful and tasty in-flight food and drink selection. Economy Extra Premium gives the Finnish business traveler the required flexibility for a cost-efficient price. An efficient, comfortable and time-saving service product requires a return to uncomplicated, fresh and friendly service in all customer interfaces. The essential role here is played by the Blue1 home terminal T1 at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport.

In the course of the summer of 2010, Blue1 will renew its entire pricing structure, making the Blue1 product an even more competitive choice in business travel. The competitive prices in both Economy Extra Premium and Economy classes will bring complete choices for all travel needs. Blue 1’s one-way pricing principle enables many price combinations. With its new commercial solutions, Blue1 is a customer-friendly, fresh and young choice for the Finnish business traveler, and, with Star Alliance, brings global destinations to the core of the new era of Finnish business travel. Our aim is to offer the best global connections for Finnish business travelers together with the Star Alliance airline companies.

:) moderne MD0/dc9...?

Hilsen
