Aengus Kelly, chief executive of Ireland-based AerCap, the world’s largest lessor, said Tuesday one of his airline customers reported that an A320neo powered by the GTF reported fuel savings on a six-hour flight of 17 percent compared to the former A320 classic model on the same route — 2 percent better than promised.
Spirit Airlines, the United States launch customer for the Airbus A320neo, continues to face challenges with the Pratt and Whitney engines that power their A320neo fleet. For months, Spirit has had to park multiple A320neo aircraft on various occasions to perform unplanned engine swaps.
While having one or two aircraft out of service is common for an airline the size of Spirit, the problem recently got much worse. Just this weekend, four out of five A320neos in the Spirit fleet were out of service with the same engine problem. The engine issue is described as “Engine Oil Chip Detected”.

UK budget carrier EasyJet has finally opted to take the Airbus A321neo, by converting orders for 30 of the smaller A320neo which the airline has on order.
Airbus has delivered the first A320neo to Vistara, a Delhi based full service airline and joint venture between Tata Sons Ltd. and Singapore Airlines (SIA). The delivery is the first of seven aircraft to be leased from BOC Aviation. The aircraft sports a unique A320neo Vistara star symbol livery on its underbelly.
