UTair (UT, Khanty-Mansiysk) parent, UTair Aviation, says it will ground 40% of its fleet in 2015 in a bid to cut up to RUB6.5 billion (USD111.4 million) in overheads.

According to an investor prospectus published in conjunction with Raiffeisen Bank last week, the group will retire twelve A321-200s, eleven B757-200s, six B737-800s, two B767-200s, all fifteen of its CRJ-200s and six SSJ 100-95s at UTair-Express from its scheduled services fleet. The B757s and A321s will instead be operated on charter services instead.

The group - which includes Katekavia, UTair Helicopter Services, UTair-Cargo, UTair-Express, UTair-Ukraine, and Vostok Airlines - has come under increasing financial pressure precipitated in large by the overall slowdown of the Russian economy due in large part to tightening Western sanctions and a plummeting Rouble.

"In addition, since mid-June 2014 the price of Brent crude oil has fallen from $115 to $60/Barrel at present time, which in turn has led to a weakening of the rouble against the dollar by 200% at present time. Since most of our aircraft leasing contracts are denominated in dollars, this has led to a substantial increase in airline business costs during the year," it said.

Overall, for its 2014 financial year, UTair Aviation expects to post an EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization) loss of RUB6.8 billion (USD115.49 million) for its current financial year before breaking even next year.

Tja, alle disse splitter nye fly koster dyrt i $$$ og med en fallende rubel-kurs kan de russiske selskaper rett og slett ikke betale for dem. God mulig at noen gamle traver i 20-25 ars alder far na en nytt liv i Russia...

Kanskje rubelens kollaps kan øke salget av SSJ100? Kanskje til og med noen vestlige selskaper kan få øynene opp for flytypen?

Tja, nå er det ganske mange av delene i Superjeten som lages utenfor Russland.
Og klargjøring for vestlige kunder gjøres vel også i Italia

Det er ikke mer enn et par uker siden sjefen i Transaero gikk offentlig ut og avkreftet rykter om at selskapet skulle sette sine fly paa bakken.

Krisen her i Russland merker folk best ved at prisstigningen har skutt i vaeret. Det er blitt mye dyrere for russere aa reise utenlands, og det er allerede naa en markert nedgang i antall utenlandsreiser - og de gaar som kjent helst med fly.

Men 30. desember - den stoerste reisedagen i Russland, da var det fullt trykk paa alle flyplasser og flyavanger, av folk som hadde kjoept billetter foer krisen satt inn.

Ja, blant annet motorene produseres i utlandet, så prisen vil nok øke på SSJ, men flyet vil likevel trolig bli relativt billigere sammenlignet med utenlandske fly?

Ser ut som at Yakutia heller ikke kommer så særlig lett ut av sanksjonene, til tros for at de ellers sliter støtt og stadig..

Nordwind Airlines (N4, Moscow Sheremetyevo) has phased out all but one of their fleet of B757-200s with five of the aircraft having been ferried to Lasham late last month. As it stands, the Russian carrier is left with just VQ-BTO (msn 30338).

The Phuket News says that in mid-December, two of the airline's jets were impounded in Phuket, Thailand, by their lessor over the non-payment of leasing dues.

Nordwind Airlines was founded in August 2008 by the Russian and Turkish subsidiaries of the Pegas Touristik tour firm. It operates nine A320 Family aircraft, four B737-800s, three B777-200(ER)s, and eleven B767-300(ER)s (of which six are on lease out to Ikar (KAR, Magadan)).

Ak Bars Aero (2B, Bugulma) will suspend scheduled operations with effect from January 12, 2015, with reservations having been closed on December 29, 2014. The move to pull out of the passenger flights sector was brought on by the weakening Russian Rouble which had resulted in foreign currency-denominated costs soaring. In addition, a significant fall in demand for flights had also played a key role in its decision the carrier said.

"It is important to understand that we are talking about the suspension of flight operations, not bankruptcy or a liquidation of the company. For example, aircraft maintenance bases at Kazan Int'l, Nizhnekamsk, and Bugulma airports will continue performing maintenance for our own aircraft and those of other airlines," it said. "Thus, it is more expedient to cease [passenger] operations so as not to generate losses. In a similar way as other Russian regional carriers."

The Russian operator said in a statement that it will now lease out its Cessna (single turboprop) 208B Grand Caravan and fleet of seventeen CRJ-200s to other domestic carriers.

As it stands, Yamal Airlines (YC, Salekhard) will assume AK Bars Aero's daily service from Bugulma to Moscow Domodedovo with effect from January 14.

Up until its pull out, the carrier had operated scheduled and charter services through out central Russia and western Siberia.

Når det gjelder Orenair så mistet de fra sensommeren en del charterflyvninger mellom Russland og det østlige middelhavsområdet som følge av flere konkurser hos store russiske turoperatører.

I tillegg har selskapet nære forbindelser med Areoflot. Etter at Dobrolet måtte gi seg i sommer, steppet Orenair inn og tok med reisende som allerede hadde kjøpt billetter.

Men nå melder det russiske nettstedet aviaport.ru at Orenair fra 15. jaunuar innstiller ruter mellom Moskva, Ekaterinburg og Perm og at disse isteden skal flys av Aeroflots nye lavkostselskap Pobeda.

Transaero har nå parkert 8 av sine 747'er. De fleste står i Melbourne, Florida,
