A helicopter with at least 18 passengers on board has ditched off the Scottish coast, the coastguard said tonight.
The Super Puma helicopter went down at about 6.40pm, 120 miles east of Aberdeen in Scotland as it was making an approach to an offshore oil installation.
Legg merke til:
There were initial reports of lifejacket lights being seen in the water, and three flares also being seen from south and east of the platform, while the helicopter fuselage was also seen on the surface.
Further signals have also been picked up from personal locator beacons attached to lifejackets.

Helicopter Incident Update
On Saturday the Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) brought the helicopter fuselage back to Aberdeen Harbour on the Forth Hunter vessel. It is now being transported to the AAIB headquarters in Farnborough by road. The helicopter tail section has also been recovered, by the Subsea Viking vessel, and will be transported to Aberdeen for onward journey to Farnborough.
The AAIB, part of the Department for Transport with responsibility for the investigation of civil aircraft accidents, continues its investigation into the incident.
In addition, we have kicked off an internal Lessons Learned review covering the offshore and onshore response to the incident. In the spirit of Continuous Improvement, our goal is to ensure that we learn for the future. David Campbell, VP Renewal, will lead this exercise.
Once again I would like to thank all those who were involved in this successful rescue operation.

Dersom man lander "vellykket" i vannet, hvor mye bølger/vind skal til for at man tipper rundt som på bildet?

Det eneste kravet i forskriftene (JAR OPS3 og BSL) er at helikopteret skal være utstyrt med flotation gear ved flyging under gitte forhold. Helikopteret skal holdes flytende og i trim i en tidsperiode slik at passasjerer kan evakuere i flåter før det tipper rundt. Normalt holdes kravet til seastate 5, 8-12 ft bølger og 18-24 kts vind. Så vidt jeg får vi nå levert maskiner med utstyr som tåler høyere seastate (tåler mer vær).
