Da har IATA stengt de ute pga manglende betaling.

Hvilken funksjon har egentlig IATA her? Må ethvert selskap ha avtale med de om designator code for i det hele tatt få operere flyruter?
i tillegg til lav betalingsvilje og tung konkurranse...Ikke så veldig rart ... overbyråkratisert og gjennomkorrupt.
Abu Dhabi's state-owned Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways said on Thursday they were not inclined to invest in Kingfisher.
One of the sources said Kingfisher was also talking with US private equity firm WL Ross. Officials at WL Ross did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
These fast-growing carriers are seen as key potential investors in Indian carriers, which are struggling amid fierce competition. The Indian government is expected soon to allow foreign carriers to own up to 49% in local airlines.
The number of Kingfisher flights has come down to 160 a day from 240 flights a day. It is likely to continue like this. They seem to have shut down Lucknow, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Srinagar, Kolkata and Hyderabad. Flights to more locations could be affected as they have lots of aircraft on ground," an industry source said here today.
Kingfisher flight bookings for several flights do not seem to be available until March 28. It seems flight tickets are not being sold. However, technically speaking flights are being shown as available on the airline's global distribution systems. The company does not seem to have informed anything to their travel agents and the travel trade fraternity either. So, there is a lot of confusion in the market over Kingfisher Airlines' operations," a Delhi-based travel industry source said.
Kingfisher said it cut about 13 per cent of flights after bird strikes and other "unexpected events" forced airplanes out of service. It said it will submit to India's aviation regulator a plan to restore the full schedule. The groundings following damage to engines after they sucked in birds may also reflect a shortage of power plants cited by the regulator last month. "If you've got a spare engine that's a one-to-two day problem," said Neil Hansford, chairman of Strategic Aviation Solutions, an adviser to airlines based in Port Stephens, Australia.
An exodus of pilots is perhaps the reason behind cash-strapped Kingfisher Airlines' recent travails. Thirty-five of its A320 commanders put in their papers on February 14 and joined rival IndiGo the next day. The blow to the airline was worsened over the weekend as 15 more of its commanders quit. In all, between 300 and 350 KFA pilots have quit the airline in the last six months.
50 piloter har forlatt selskapet og gått over til IndiGo. Kun 16 fly er operative, 8 ATR og 8 A320.
