ITA to tap Alitalia heritage as revenues jump in first half

Buoyed by an improved operating performance over the first half of the year, Lufthansa Group-bound Italian carrier ITA Airways today unveiled plans to utlise the Alitalia name as part of its future branding strategy.

The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, EasyJet Airline Company PLC (‘EasyJet'), International Airlines Group (‘IAG') and Air France-KLM S.A., Société Air France and Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij N.V. (together ‘AFKLM') as suitable remedy takers under the commitments made by Lufthansa AG (‘Lufthansa') and the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance (‘MEF') in order to acquire joint control over ITA Airways (‘ITA'). The approval of suitable remedy takers is a condition for Lufthansa and the MEF to implement the transaction.

On Wednesday, the Lufthansa Airlines Group (LH) finalized its acquisition of a minority stake in ITA Airways (AZ).

The German airline group now owns 41% of the Italian carrier, with the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) owning 59%. The acquisition, valued at €325 million, will increase to cover 100% of AZ, for a total value of €829 million at a later stage.

Spennende å se hvor raskt ITA kommer opp som alternativ på reiser til og fra Italia på Lufthansa.com - kan jo håpe at vi får en sjanse i september:-)
 
Jeg er null opptatt av bonusprogrammer. Flyr business og nyter fordelene dirkete.
 
Men samarbeidet med LufthansaGruppen er jo nesten som en allianse i seg selv:-) Ser at Swiss allerede nå er ute og annonserer for samarbeidet med ITA.
