Air India will place its ‘AI’ designator code on Icelandair-operated flights between Reykjavik (KEF) and major European cities including London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Milan, and Zurich. This will allow Air India passengers easier access to Iceland via key European gateways.
Icelandair will add its ‘FI’ designator code to Air India-operated flights between Delhi and Amsterdam, Paris, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, London Heathrow, as well as between Mumbai and Frankfurt and London Heathrow. This will offer Icelandair passengers seamless connections to major cities in India.

In May 2025, Icelandair carried 448,000 passengers, up 13% year-over-year, with a strong 18% increase in inbound travel to Iceland. So far in 2025, the airline has served over 1.6 million passengers.

Icelandair carried 611,000 passengers in July 2025, matching last year’s figure, with year-to-date traffic up 9% to over 2.8 million. Passengers to and from Iceland grew 14%, now accounting for 56% of total traffic, reflecting the airline’s strategic focus on these markets. The load factor rose to 88.2% and on-time performance improved to 81.8%.
