Eurowings develops innovative partnership approach, but CASK reduction may not go far enough
Lufthansa Group low-cost (LCC) subsidiary Eurowings Europe will open a base in Salzburg, Austria in January 2017, the airline’s second base after Vienna.
The Salzburg network will include five new routes to Zurich (6X-weekly), Geneva (3X-weekly), Brussels (4X-weekly), Paris Charles de Gaulle (5X-weekly) and Hamburg (3X-weekly), as well as more frequencies to Cologne

The Supervisory Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG approved the rapid expansion of the Eurowings Group at its meeting today. For this purpose, an investment framework of around EUR 1 billion was approved for the purchase and leasing of aircraft. The funds will be used towards obtaining up to 61 aircraft, including 41 Airbus A320 Family aircraft and 20 Dash 8 Q400. The acquisition of the aircraft is partly dependent on the successful conclusion of negotiations to acquire parts of the Air Berlin Group. The investments would be financed from existing liquid funds.
Selskapet vil øke antallet flyvninger med over 70.000 og antallet passasjerer med 8 millioner, ifølge selskapet selv. Ifjor vokste selskapet 77 prosent. Det får Norwegians vekst på 13 prosent i 2017 til å blekne.
fy.f. merker jeg blir litt opprørt, hva betaler eurowings av egen lomme på denne veksten? kan umulig være mye... de får jo fly bare sprøytet inn av Lufthansa. minner meg veldig om Midtøsten, søkkrike eiere som bare hiver fly etter dem, selv om de ikke får det til å ikke fremstå slik.
