Avion Group is pleased to announce the formation of Star Europe in Germany. Star Europe recently received its aircraft operating certificate ‘AOC’ after only three months – a process that normally takes between 12 and 18 months. Star Europe’s CEO is Martin Greiffenhagen. Martin is a German with decades of experience in the airline industry.
It is intended that three Airbus 320 aircraft will operate in the region in Summer 2006 to Eastern and Southern Europe and the Middle East, with plans for additional aircraft in the future. The first flights will be operated under the German airline, Germanwings as well as flights for many German tour operators.
During this summer season, flights will operate from four airports in Germany: Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Cologne and Stuttgart.
Avion Group projects to invest approximately 10 million Euros in establishing and growing the operation. Star Europe’s turnover this year is expected to be nearly 30 million Euros.
Avion’s strategy is to strengthen the Group’s Charter & Leisure Division outside the UK which now has an AOC in the UK, France and Germany and has over 37 aircraft in operation. The population of these three countries is over 200 million. Avion Group will continue to seek opportunities to strengthen the Charter & Leisure Division outside the UK.
