Aeroflot (SU, Moscow Sheremetyevo) Chief Executive Officer Vitaly Saveliev says his airline is trying to cancel an order for twenty-two B787-8s placed with Boeing (BOE, Chicago O'Hare) in 2007.

According to Kommersant, Saveliev told Rossiya 24 television that Aeroflot no longer needs the aircraft in a slowing market adding that the US manufacturer had failed to deliver them on time. Though Aeroflot announced in July that it was cancelling its B787 order, Boeing later said it had never received any official notification to that effect.

Saveliev went on to add that Aeroflot is now considering taking over thirty-four aircraft from Transaero Airlines (UN, Moscow Vnukovo). Aeroflot is currently in talks with lessors and Transaero's largest creditors Russian banks VTB, VEB and Sberbank, he said.

Talks with Sberbank pertain to four B747-400s and ten B737-800s while those with VEB and VTB Leasing pertain to the remaining five B747-400s, B777s (of which Transaero operates six B777-200(ER)s and four B777-300s), and B767s (of which Transaero operates nine B767-300(ER)s and two B767-200(ER)s).

Should Transaero eventually go under, the CEO said Aeroflot may gain access to up to fifty-seven international routes though this is dependent on the Russian government. Red Wings (Russia) (WZ, Moscow Vnukovo) and other carriers have also expressed an interest in taking over some of Transaero's network.

Transaero Airlines (UN, Moscow Vnukovo) has ended Airbus Industrie (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) operations following the return of its two A321-200 (sl)s to their lessor - China's ICBC Leasing - this past weekend. Skyliner Aviation reports EI-VKO (cn 6678) and EI-OVB (cn 6756) are now in storage at Teruel.

Averaging three months of age, the aircraft were part of an order for six the ailing Russian carrier signed with ICBC in December of last year.

As it currently stands, Transaero's fleet now constitutes three B737-300s, four B737-400s, ten B737-500s, fourteen B737-800s, nine B747-400s, two B767-200(ER)s, nine B767-300(ER)s, six B777-200(ER)s, four B777-300s, and three Tu-204s.

Transaero's last B737-700 has also been returned to the lessor already.

Dette begynner å bli virkelig spennende...
S7 Airlines (S7, Novosibirsk) chief executive and shareholder Vladislav Filev has signed a Letter of Intent to acquire "at least 51% of the shares" in financially ailing Russian carrier Transaero Airlines (UN, Moscow Vnukovo) from founder and majority shareholder, Alexander Pleshakov.

Announcing the deal to Russia's RBC alongside Pleshakov, Filev did not disclose who the other investors are or what the value of the transaction is. He did however, underscore that it was "significantly more than 1 Rouble" - a slight at Aeroflot Group's failed bid to acquire 75%+1 share of Transaero stock made last month.

According to Pleshakov, he undertook the deal to avoid Aeroflot monopolizing the Russian market.

"I prepared this agreement in part because I wanted to prevent the monopolization of the aviation market; so that passengers and industry employees have the opportunity to choose between airlines," he said. "In addition, our goal was not to punish our long-term partners and creditors which would undoubtedly suffer adversely in the event of bankruptcy."

Though Alexander and his wife Olga Pleshakova reportedly controlled 46.55% of Transaero shares, Pleshakova revealed last month that her husband's control had since risen to "slightly less than 60%".

Filev added that S7 "has a plan to normalize relations with Transaero creditors" who are collectively owed over RUB250 billion (USD3.8 billion) of which RUB150 billion (USD2.42 billion) is owed to leasing firms while RUB20 billion (USD323.76 million) is owed to airports and fuel companies.

Russia's S7 Group, parent firm of S7 Airlines (S7, Novosibirsk) and Globus (GH, Novosibirsk) among others, is also a husband and wife run operation with Vladislav and Natalya Filev its majority shareholders.

Og da skal AOC være trukket tilbake. Snipp snapp snute....
