SAS-affiliated Air Baltic and Scandinavian Airlines are to codeshare from 31 October on almost all the Latvian carrier’s services from its two Baltic bases.
The Scandinavian group owns a 47.2% stake in Air Baltic and is now to begin codesharing with the airline on all but its flights to Moscow in Russia, Minsk in Belarus and Kiev in the Ukraine.
Air Baltic operates flights from the two Baltic capitals, Riga in Latvia and Vilnius in Lithuania. From Riga, Air Baltic operates to 18 European routes, and nine from Vilnius. It will also shortly begin flying from Vilnius to London and Munich.
Air Baltic president and CEO Bertolt Flick says: “Flight codesharing is a significant step to improve and expand co-operation between Air Baltic and Scandinavian airlines. It will facilitate further Air Baltic integration into the SAS network.”
The airline's fleet currently comprises five Boeing 737, three BAE Systems Avro RJ70 and six Fokker 50 aircraft.
