Delays in Passenger Security Screening at Budapest Ferihegy airport
Malév is requesting passengers departing from Budapest Ferihegy airport to arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before their flight, earlier than usual.
The airport operator, Budapest Airport, does not currently have sufficient security staff to provide for the recently introduced stricter security measures, which results in significantly prolonged waiting time, often several hours, for passenger security checks. Budapest Airport apologize for the inconvenience caused as below:

At peak times, passengers are currently experiencing unacceptable delays in passing through security screening, for which Budapest Airport unreservedly apologises.
Due to several recent changes in security regulations in Hungary, and in response to the stricter security regimes for passengers flying to the USA and transferring via UK airports, it is taking longer to process each passenger, and we are required to put more security staff at each security channel. Moreover, the new regulations require hand body searches of passengers, and these can only be carried out by a man on men, and by a woman on women. As a result, we do not currently have enough security staff to open as many security channels as we need to.
We are doing all we can to sort this out, such as moving security staff between terminals to handle peak-time traffic, increasing overtime, redeploying staff from other parts of our business and recruiting new staff. But security staff must be trained and pass all the necessary criminal and counter-terrorism checks before they can join the front-line, so while we are trying to increase the number of passenger search staff as quickly as we can, we cannot do this by cutting corners on training or security vetting. Your safety and security must remain our number one priority.
We are grateful to our airlines for helping us and for holding as many of their planes on the ground for as long as possible during these busy periods.
We understand that it can be frustrating to be delayed in a queue and that our explanation will be little consolation to you if you miss your flight. We can only say that we are genuinely sorry and assure you that we are trying hard to fix this short-term problem - and we WILL fix it.
