BA kuttet vel nylig mange ruter til Australia som ble overtatt av QF. Blir disse erstattet på noen måte?
http://afr.com/p/business/companies/qantas_emirates_deal_could_end_ba_VAM3UsED31zUmHHErECMsLIAG, whose BA and Iberia brands are core members of oneworld, is understood to have held discussions with the Doha-based Qatar over the purchase of the 12 per cent stake in IAG, now held by failed Spanish bank Bankia. Should Qatar purchase the IAG stake and enter the oneworld alliance, the two could offer an alternative Middle Eastern solution to Qantas that would not jeopardise existing network relationships.
Qatar Airways (QR, Doha International (DOH)) is reportedly in talks with International Airlines Group, the parent of British Airways (BA, London Heathrow (LHR)) and Iberia (IB, Madrid Barajas (MAD)), about a joint venture on the so called Kangaroo route between Europe and Australia according to a report published by the Financial Times. This would be following a similar deal announced between Emirates (EK, Dubai International (DXB)) and Qantas (QF, Sydney Kingsford Smith (SYD)) this week. Qatar Airways currently serves 33 destinations in Europe including Barcelona El Prat International (BCN), London Heathrow (LHR), Madrid Barajas (MAD) and Manchester Ringway International (MAN) in IAG's home markets and operates to Melbourne Tullamarine International (MEL) and Perth International (PER) in Australia. BA currently operates from Heathrow to Sydney Kingsford Smith (SYD) via Singapore Changi International (SIN) on a daily basis as part of its joint venture with Oneworld partner Qantas (QF, Sydney Kingsford Smith (SYD)). It also serves Doha via Bahrain Muharraq International (BAH) on a daily basis while its sister carrier Iberia does not currently operate to any destinations in the Arabian Gulf or Asia-Pacific regions.
Qantas will switch its Sydney-Dubai-London flights to operate via Singapore from 25 March 2018, under a renewed partnership with Emirates.
