Engineering jobs in/around Oslo

Hi Everyone,

I discovered this informative forum whilst browsig the internet and thought it may be useful to post.

I'm British and I've been living in Oslo for the last five years.

To cut a long story short, my friend is an Aircraft Engineer who has been serving in the Royal Air Force (RAF) for the last 10 years. He has decided he would like to move to Norway preferably in/around the Oslo area so I am trying to help him secure a job offer.

I was wondering if anyone could help/point me in the direction of job opportunities/agencies for him:

He has engineering expertise in the following areas:
•Technical experience in maintaining complex aircraft systems including Hydraulic, Environmental control, Oxygen and Pressurisation systems.
•Vast degree of knowledge in Aircraft Flying Controls, Undercarriage and Retardation systems.
•Skilled in structural repairs and transparencies.
•Extensive understanding of engines, fuel and specialist systems such as Air to Air refuelling.
•Electrical competence.
•Fully qualified and practised Flight line handler.
•Qualified to use ground equipment required to maintain Aircraft.
•Locally licensed to operate a wide range of airfield vehicles, including towing tractors and mobile high lift platforms.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated?

Regards / Hilsen

Jonathan

Little response for you and your friend, I see. But I can only point at my own company, Norwegian. I don't know whether there are any vacancies at the moment, but we will always look for experienced engineers, also at the OSL base. This base is mostly line maintenance, most of the bigger jobs go to SVG, except for the C and D-checks.
Just call our switchboard and they will be able to redirect you to the right person!

And there are already some brits and irish around...

Welcome to the forum, by the way!

Hi Stein and thank you for the reply.

I will get my friend to contact Norwegian and we'll see what happens!

Do you know if the Norwegian airforce employ civilians to work on their airfrcraft, or is it all in-house?

Tusen takk
Jonathan

Regarding air force work, others will probably be able answer that with a bit more certainty, but I think civilians will be admitted, too. In your area, I'm quite certain that the workshops at Kjeller would be of interest, that's components and heavy maintenance, I believe. But, as I said, others on this forum would know more about that than me.

Thanks again Stein, I'll look into the workshops at Kjeller.

If anyone else has any advice it would be greatly appreciated?

There are a lot of civilian workers working for the air force, both local hired and via external companies like Daedalus Aviation Group.

Here's an email he could send his inquiry about working for the technical division of the armed forces. flopersonell@mil.no
