Viking tar over De Havilland Q400/Dash 8 programmet - Status

Re: Viking tar over Q400/Dash 8 programmet

Re: Viking tar over Q400/Dash 8 programmet

https://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/analysis-de-havilland-eyes-dash-8-resurgence-460454/

De Havilland, a unit of Longview Aviation Capital, has only run the Dash 8 programme for three months, but it is already planning product upgrades and a North American sales push.

Such updates likely include new cockpit technologies and efficiency improvements, though De Havilland is also considering new variants including a 50-seater, the Toronto company's chief operating officer Todd Young tells FlightGlobal.

Re: Viking tar over De Havilland Q400/Dash 8 programmet

https://atwonline.com/atw-location/dubai-airshow-2019-de-havilland-might-re-engine-dash-8-400

De Havilland Aircraft of Canada is looking at the possibility of fitting new engines to the Dash 8-400, the company’s COO.

A further stretch, and possibly also a shortening, of the regional turboprop’s fuselage is also being considered, Todd Young said.

https://dehavilland.com/en/news/pos...-dash-8-400-aircraft-from-de-havilland-canada

Today, at the Dubai Airshow, De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited (“De Havilland Canada”) announced that the Republic of Ghana has signed a Letter of Intent to purchase up to six Dash 8-400 aircraft. The country recently announced plans to launch a home based carrier in Accra, Ghana to serve domestic, regional and international routes.

“We’ve been starting initial discussions on possible variants of the aircraft,” said Todd Young, De Havilland’s chief operating officer. “This would be a shorter aircraft in the range of 50 to 60 seats. That would be a possible replacement to the original Dash 8-300, albeit based on a Dash 8-400 configuration.”

ATR regional sales director Jean-Daniel Kosowski told Australian Aviation in October 2018 the work on the 42-600S was “not a huge modification”.

“In simple terms it is basically using the rating power of the 72 on the 42 and having better brakes,” Kosowski said.
“And the aileron just needs to be changed a little because if you have a more powerful engine if there is one engine out on takeoff, you need to be sure that the rudder can compensate.”
“It’s all about this. It’s not a huge modification.”

https://www.aviation24.be/manufactu...8-400-nordic-aviation-capital-first-customer/

De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited announced today that Nordic Aviation Capital will be the launch customer for the Classic Overhead Bin Extension Solution for the Dash 8-400 aircraft. Under this agreement, De Havilland Canada will be the exclusive supplier of all future Dash 8-400 aircraft classic bin extension modifications for Nordic Aviation Capital’s fleet. The cost-efficient and environmentally friendly solution provides additional stowage volume in the Dash 8 aircraft’s cabin and is the perfect solution to meet growing customer requirements for more baggage space.

Konkursen i FlyBe skaper potensielt utfordringer for Longview/Viking her, etter som de var den største operatøren av Q400, og dermed flommer markedet over av brukte maskiner. I tillegg holder jo flere operatører som Austrian, AirBaltic etc å fase ut sine

https://www.flightglobal.com/programmes/what-flybes-demise-means-for-the-dash-8/137122.article

Flybe’s collapse is a serious blow for De Havilland Canada’s Dash 8-400 programme as the UK regional carrier was the turboprop’s largest operator.

Nye problemer for Q400.

http://smartaviation-apac.com/2020/03/de-havilland-canada-sues-indias-spicejet/

Philippa King, a De Havilland Canada spokesperson, confirms to Smart Aviation APAC that the Dash 8-400 manufacturer had filed the US$42.9 million lawsuit in relation to a purchase agreement it had with the Indian low-cost carrier for the sale of 25 Dash 8-400 turboprops.

De Havilland Canada has announced that it will suspend new productions of its Dash 8-400 aircraft and Series 400 Twin Otter aircraft with immediate effect. The aircraft manufacturer has made its decision in response to reduced airline activity around the world. That said, it will continue to support existing customers.
