ISTANBUL, May 11 (Reuters) - Turkish Airlines (THY) (THYAO.IS) will order a total of 600 new aircraft in June and they will be delivered within ten years, company chairman Ahmet Bolat said on Thursday.

Such an order, if confirmed, would be the largest in the industry's history by a single airline, eclipsing a record order by Air India for 470 Airbus and Boeing planes in December, but his comments took some industry sources and analysts by surprise.

Utsettelsen på den 600 fly ordren virker skyldes utfordringen rundt både motorvalg, som jo er høyaktuelt på grunn av både reabilitetsproblemer og leveringsforsinkelser

Although it has received revised proposals from manufacturers for as many as 600 new-generation aircraft, Turkish Airlines (TK, Istanbul Airport) has yet to make a decision on engine options, Chief Financial Officer Murat Seker said during a quarterly earnings call.

"Of course, the engines are playing a key role there. So while we are trying to decide on which aircraft type to [order], we are also very closely investigating which engine types to get and which type of maintenance contracts to get in addition. That is the reason why we have not announced any decision yet. But it's not going to take too much further time," he said.

Ser nå ut som Airbus for 50% av widebody ordren, men flertallet av narrowbody. 355 fly, hvor 250 A321neo og 105 ymse A350 varianter (inkludert 10 A350 alt i bestilling)

Turkey's flag carrier Turkish Airlines placed a giant Airbus order for 355 aircraft.

Turkish Airlines;
250 A321 NEO aircraft,
75 A350-900 aircraft,
15 A350-1000 aircraft,
5 A350F cargo planes,
An about agreement was made with Airbus for the purchase of a total of 345 aircraft.

Airbus orders were placed in addition to the previously agreed 10 A350-900 aircraft. The total Airbus order thus reached 355

Türkiye’s national carrier, Turkish Airlines, will expand its fleet with an order for 220 Airbus aircraft, made up of 150 Airbus’ best-selling A321s and 70 of the world’s most modern and efficient A350 widebody aircraft (50 A350-900s, 15 A350-1000s and 5 A350F freighters). This follows two orders from the airline for 10 A350-900s in September and four A350-900s in July 2023. This latest order will take Turkish Airlines’ total orderbook for Airbus aircraft to 504, of which 212 are already delivered.
