SweFly go bye bye?

updated 9.9.2005
Update from SWE FLY Friday 9 September.

Regretfully, SWE FLY is yet unable to assist passengers from Luton, Leeds, Lahore and Stockholm/Skavsta waiting for a SWE FLY flight. However, there is a possibility that SWE FLY will arrange to bring stranded passengers home. A solution will hopefully be presented with new owners on this web page next week.

Regarding future bookings for Bangkok a solution is also possible with the prospective new owners.

Passengers who are unable to wait for a later and non guaranteed flight will have to make alternative arrangements. The management of SWE FLY is currently unable to deal with this situation in any other way and sincerely apologize for all the inconvenience caused to passengers by the financial constraints that the company finds itself in at present.

Struggling Swe Fly seeks court protection
David Kaminski-Morrow, London (19Sep05, 12:31 GMT, 123 words)

Troubled Swedish long-haul operator Swe Fly is hoping to secure court protection from creditors this week as it struggles to save its operation.

The carrier has been grounded since 2 September after running into financial problems.

While the airline is attempting to find a solution to its funding problems, it says the Swedish courts have “not yet accepted” its application for creditor protection.

“This is expected early [this] week,” says the carrier. “Our lawyers are hopeful that a solution to the company’s problems will be found in the near future.”

Swe Fly had been operating long-haul services to the Pakistani city of Lahore with Boeing 767 aircraft and had been planning to open a Bangkok route when it was forced to suspend services.
