Trafikkrapporten for september er ute:

SAS Group's September 2012 traffic figures
• The SAS Group’s load factor improved by 1.9 p.u. to 76.5%.
• SAS Group carried 2.6 million passengers in September, up
3.5%.
• SAS Group’s capacity (ASK) increased by 5.5% and the
Group’s traffic (RPK) increased by 8.3%.

Group market trends, RASK and yield development
Traffic growth was good on most routes during September and
particularly strong on intercontinental and European routes as
the Group increased its seasonal capacity to leisure
destinations.

Currency adjusted yield (SAS) in August was up 3.6% versus
previous year and RASK was up 1.5% in line with
expectations. For September 2012 the RASK (change vs last
year) is expected to be in line with last year, while the yield is
expected to be negative versus previous year.
The response to market campaigns is good and forward
booking levels continue to be well above last year’s level.
Overall, the market growth continues to be good, but remains
unpredictable due to added capacity in certain markets, risk in
the global economy and high jet fuel prices. This adds
uncertainty to the yield and RASK outlook going forward.

SAS Group product and news update
• Widerøe was awarded European Airline of the Year 2012 by
the ERA (European Regions Airline Association).
• SAS Credits – a loyalty program for middle/small
businesses – reached 30,000 customers in September
spread between 22 markets.
• The first aircraft with SAS new Recaro seat was introduced
in September. The new seat is lighter, very comfortable and
provides more personal space.
• The Swedish government has renewed its corporate
agreement with SAS on all SAS Swedish domestic routes
until 30 November 2013.

Scandinavian Airlines traffic development
• Number of passengers increased by 3.2% to 2.4 million.
• Traffic increased by 8.5% and capacity was up 5.7%.
• The load factor was up 2.0 p.u. to 77.1%.

Scandinavian Airlines’ traffic grew more than the capacity
increase during September as new routes were well received
by customers. The traffic growth was primarily driven by strong
growth on intercontinental routes (12.6%) and new European
leisure routes. Traffic on all European/ intrascandinavian
routes increased 8.9% with improved load factors. The
domestic traffic increased 1.5% with improved load factors.

Widerøe traffic development
Widerøe carried 245,000 passengers in September, up 6.4%,
driven by 2.3% increased capacity and the introduction of new
routes. Despite the growth in passengers, the overall load
factor was down 1.0 p.u. to 59.2%. This weaker load factor
can be explained by shifting capacity from longer intrascandinavian
routes to shorter domestic with continued passenger growth. During September it was announced by
the Norwegian government that the contract for the route
Oslo-Røros was given to Widerøe. The first flight will depart
on 1 December 2012 and the contract is running until April
2016.

Fortsatt god vekst - trafikkøkning på 8,3 % i september

SAS konsernet transporterte 90.000 flere passasjerer i september, en økning på 3,5 %. Samtidig steg kabinfaktoren med 1,9 prosentenheter sammenliknet med samme periode i fjor, opp til 76,5 %.

En god økning i de fleste av SAS markeder er forklaringen på den sterke trafikkøkningen i september. De interkontinentale rutene fortsatte å vokse noe mer enn gjennomsnittet med en økning 12,6 % drevet av en trafikkøkning på asiarutene på over 30 %. Også trafikkutviklingen på europarutene var positiv med en sterk avslutning på sommerprogrammet. Den skandinaviske innenrikstrafikken steg 1,5 % til tross for at kapasiteten ble redusert 1,6 %.

- I september var våre forretningsreisende tilbake samtidig som vi fortsatte å tilby et betydelig utvidet rutenett på fritidsdestinasjoner, hvilket viser hvilken bredde SAS produkt har. Den svenske statens avtaleforlengelse og den meget positive responsen på vår siste salgskampanje er ytterligere et eksempel på at vi har et meget sterkt produkt. Vi kommer til å jobbe videre med å utvide tilbudet for alle kundegrupper samtidig som vi fortsetter å redusere kostnadene og øke effektiviteten, sier Rickard Gustafson, VD og konsernsjef i SAS.

Yielden var 3,6 % høyere i august (rapporteres med en måneds forsinkelse), enn foregående år samtidig som enhetsinntekten, RASK, økte med 1,5 %. I løpet av september forventes endringen av RASK å bli positiv mens yielden forventes negativ sammenliknet med fjoråret.
