Have I misunderstood the difference between mergers and aquisitions?^_^
Verkar som om fusion inte är aktuellt för Deltas ledning med sådana villkor som non-negotiable.

.. og DL's ledelse varsler store endringer denne uken som foelge av bensinprisene .. du skal ikke se bort fra at de begynner aa parkere fly. Det kan bli gode dager for oerkenspotterene fremover ....

UA og CO har jo satt opp prisene på innenriksprisene her i US and A to ganger de siste 10 dager, sist på fredag. Flighter under 500 miles er prisene satt opp med 5-10 USD pr t/r, over 1500 miles 15-50 USD t/r....

Før man begynner med ørkenparkering, kan jo alle (bortsett fra Dag) hive seg i winglet installasjoner. Vet ikke hvordan det er med Delta, men UA har 3 (!) fly med winglets (!)

Nå har oljeprisen gått litt ned i dag, håper det fortsetter.

DL Pilots: No deal with NW

The pilot’s union for Delta Air Lines (DL) has informed company executives that it has been “unable to agree on seniority issues with its counterpart at Northwest Airlines (NW),” the Associated Press reported Monday. The news was delivered Monday in a letter from Lee Moak, the head of DL’s pilots union, “to rank-and-file Delta pilots,” the story said.

“Not too long ago, Delta and Northwest seemed all but certain to announce a combination,” the story said. “But the impasse over seniority involving the pilots union became a major sticking point.”

NEW YORK (Reuters) - American Airlines (NYSE:AMR - News) has had early-stage merger talks with US Airways (NYSE:LCC - News) and is in advanced talks for an alliance with Continental Airlines (NYSE:CAL - News), sources briefed on the situation said.

American Airlines' talks with Continental are focused on forming an alliance. Meanwhile. Continental is in advanced merger talks with United Airlines (NasdaqGS:UAUA - News).

American ønsker fusjon med US AW, og allianse med CO, som igjen er i fusjonsprat med UA? Mangler jo bare DL/NWA nå, så har vi EN major bumper airline!

...nå er det vel ingen som er uenig at det kommer til å skje fusjoner i 2008/2009 - selv om vi ikke liker det!

Med andre ord er det ikke alltid flyselskapene er helt seriøse når de inngår samtaler om fusjoner og allianser. :cool:
