British Airways owner IAG tonight announced plans to consult on as many as 12,000 redundancies as Covid-19 continues to wreak havoc on the aviation sector.
Rent kynisk er det vel ikke rart ettersom det også er BA som har de høyeste personalkostnadene.IAG skriver selv at det gjelder BA.

Kan også her være forskjellige permiteringsregler i forskjellige land som slår inn. BA er også veldig tunge på longhaul som antagelig får en større knekk enn innenriks og intra-EU. Ser man på de drastiske kuttene europeiske selskap planlegger, fremstår Norwegian sine kuttplaner vel optimistiske.

Egentlig ikke, spesielt på kort sikt er jo Norwegian sitt base case veldig pessimistisk. Husk at mange land, eller antar de fleste, har begrensninger i hvor lenge man kan permitere. Da må man faktisk gå til oppsigelser.
Etter norske regler, så må jo en ansatt man først trenger sommeren 2021 også måtte bli sagt opp

Sikter egentlig mest mot flåtestørrelse, og pilotkorps som følge av dette.
Ifg planespotters har de 142 fly, og skal ned på 110-120, dvs en reduksjon på 19%.
BA skal redusere pilotantallet med 22% som følge av reduksjon i volum.
Utgangspunktet deres var veldig forskjellig, skakkjørt lavkost og veldrevet fullservice. Da hadde jeg forventet at BA hadde kuttet mindre, ikke mer, enn DY.
Og ja, det kommer garantert flere oppsigelser i DY, men alle man forventer å ha tilbake i jobb innen et år vil det være billigere å permittere (så sant permitteringsperioden blir øket til 52 uker)
Det kommer jo litt an på hvilke fly de planlegger å parkere. For LGW sin del er der jo en blanding av kort og langdistanse og de har jo forskjellige behov for flygere. For en A320 type kan en jo klare seg med 4-5 mannskap per fly mens for langdistanse blir det fort 7 (eller deromkring) mannskap per fly. Så kutt i langdistanse vil uten tvil ha en større effekt i form av eventuell overtallighet.

Aer Lingus is to commence negotiations with unions representing staff at the airline about cuts of up to 900 jobs.

British Airways parent IAG warned it will have to take further action to survive the blow inflicted by the coronavirus pandemic as it predicted it would take three years before passenger demand returns to normal.
The airline group, which last week announced BA would be cutting 12,000 jobs, said that the slow return to normality meant further restructuring across the group would be “essential”.
“We do not expect passenger demand to recover to the level of 2019 before 2023 at the earliest,” said IAG chief executive Willie Walsh. “This means group-wide restructuring is essential in order to get through the crisis and preserve an adequate level of liquidity. We intend to come out of the crisis as a stronger group.”
According to filing submitted to Companies House in the UK on Tuesday 26 May 2020, BA has entered into a $750m facility agreement arranged by Citigroup Global Markets Inc.
To obtain these funds, BA has mortgaged 40 short-haul and 8 long-haul aircraft, with Citibank acting as a security trustee.
Two of British Airways’ Boeing 777-200s have had their seats and interiors removed to increase their cargo-carrying capacity.
