Help: Braathens 767 in Madeira

Hello

(sorry I can only write in english).

In 1989/90 Braathens SAFE brought its Boeing 767 to Madeira (FNC), the first wide body ever to visit the island. And that was before the runway extension, only 1800 metres back then. My father worked at the airport and took me to see it, the first time I set foot in a 767.

Does anyone have a picture of the 767 at FNC?

Details about the operation, origin, stopovers, how many seasons, etc, greatly appreciated.

Anyway I am positive the 1st 767 was from Braathens, the first RWY extention (from 1600 to 1600) was completed in 1986, so it was possible still.

I do not know, but FNC was not one of the major destinations for BU with 767 in 1986. But it might perhaps have been there once... (?)

No photos of a B767 at FNC at Airliners.net, but of course this doesn´t prove it has not been there..

In 1986 BU had only LN-SUW left, and it was used mainly domestic on weekdays, and to PMI and LPA in the weekends.

Dear Fellowship

This is good info. Very likely it was coming from LPA not not OSL or other Scandinavian airports. This would explain weight restrictions not being a problem.
So it was LN-SUW, after all. Can you tell me when exactly did it leave the fleet?

I know Rui Alves very well, we are neihhbours :)

Stand me corrected, but in my memory i think BU flew B-767 out of FNC.
I will check and see if i find anything more

I deeply appreciate all your help.
I am collecting memories about FNC, to write a book, and Braathens is a major player on its history.
For some reason there is a lot of info about the 60s, 70s but the 80s went relatively unnotice until the 90s.

Funny is that most people think the company is pronounced BRA-Tens after 30 years of operation.
 
LN-SUV reg. 23-3-84 and cld 30-9-85 name Harald Hårfagre

LN-SUW reg3-10-84 and cld 1-9-86 name Olav den Hellige

I was not wrong, but at time are unable to give more facts, but the B-767 did actually fly FNC-ARN for a period of time. Something in the back of my head rings a bell with CDG, i'm not sure if ( or pending on weather ) they did a fuelstop in CDG.
If i get more info i'll post it

I am sure you are right, but I assume this will make sense if it was in the summer of 1985 when BU had one 767 operating from Oslo, and one from Stockholm, or even in winter 1984/85... In the winter 1985/86 only LN-SUW operated, and it was charter schedules from Gardermoen, Oslo...

There is a picture of LN-SUW on Airliners.net from AMS that puzzled me a little. That may have been a fuelstop ..

You may be wrong about they year. Acc to Wiki they had them between '84-86.
They could not had many ops at FNC, as i got word that they used to shuttle passengers between Funchal and Porto Santo with 1 Maersk and 1 Braathens B-737 during the rwy extension.
Given that this was completed in '86 and 767 stopped service in '86
