Widerøe reported second-quarter earnings of MSEK 28, up MSEK 21 compared with the year-earlier period and the company’s earnings trend has been stable for a certain period of time. In contrast to the first quarter of the year, Widerøe reduced capacity during the past three months, which had a positive effect on earnings. The trend in passenger revenue is satisfactory since both the yield and, in particular, the load
factor have improved. The carrier achieved a new passenger record in June with 195,000 passengers. The impact on the cost trend is lagging, meaning that unit costs excluding fuel costs were higher compared with the year-earlier period. One of the reasons for this is the unfavorable trend in technical aircraft maintenance.
