FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTUU) - A plane crash-landed on the Tanana River Tuesday morning with no word on the condition of those onboard, according to authorities.
The Alaska State Troopers reported in a dispatch that the plane — a Douglas DC-4 — crashed on the river southwest of Fairbanks near Kallenberg Road, roughly 7 1/4 miles southwest of Fairbanks International Airport.
Troopers provided no details on the condition of anyone onboard the plane or how many people were aboard. A request for information to authorities has not yet been answered.
Troopers asked the public to avoid the area as first responders arrive to the scene.
Clint Johnson, the chief of the National Transportation Safety Board’s Alaska Regional Office, also was unable to confirm the status of those onboard, but said that three NTSB investigators were traveling Tuesday morning from Anchorage.
