Continental hipp på Asia

Looking to Asia for higher profits, Continental is planning nonstop service from the East Coast to New Delhi this fall and is taking another run at nonstop flights to Shanghai. The airline said Thursday if wins approval from the DOT, it will introduce nonstop flights from Newark to Shanghai in March 2007. Earlier this year, regulators turned Continental down for a Shanghai route, granting permission to American Airlines, instead. Another Shanghai route is opening up, however, and Continental is trying again. Continental already has received permission for nonstop flights from Newark to Beijing. Continental said Wednesday that its Newark-New Delhi service, scheduled to start Oct 31 pending govt approval, will be the first nonstop flights between the US and India. The nonstop service will reduce the travel time between New York and New Delhi by more than two hours.

CO har fått litt av et rutekart ut av Newark de siste årene... Da SAS kjøpte seg inn i CO fløy de vel til en håndfull oversjøiske destinasjoner fra Newark...nå flyr de til "hele verden"... Kjempebra!!! Blir Newark snart for liten for CO?

Enig med EB. CO er virkelig i støtet og har lansert mange ruter. De lanserer jo nye ruter hele tiden og har tydeligvis lagt opp til en ekspansjonsplan.
Kanskje en snart vil se flere ruter til andre byer i USA og ikke hovedskalig til EWR.
Flott at noen tør satse litt utradisjonelt!

Kanskje Dag kan gi oss en update på hvordan går med den 777'ern som hadde et lite uhell på EWR for en stund siden...

Må de ikke snart få inn flere fly for å få til alt dette?

Vet om 787 bestillingen..men de kommer jo ikke med det første..

GFL, haleseksjonen (section 48) er av og nye paneler et nytt aft pressure bulkhead kom med Antonov'en til EWR i forrige uke. Vet ikke naar den skal bli ferdig, men det er en del jobb enda. Skal se om det er OK aa legge ut noen bilder...?

Mye spekulasjoner om hvordan dette hendte, og ikke noe er offisielt enda...?
