co-pilot at Lithuanian carrier Avion Express allegedly forged his flight certificates to pose as a captain and flew commercial passenger jets across Europe for several months, according to reports by Aero Telegraph.

The man, who had previously worked as a first officer for Garuda Indonesia, is accused of falsifying documents to obtain command certification. During that time, he reportedly operated aircraft carrying hundreds of passengers.

SmartLynx Airlines Ltd, the former subsidiary of the Avia Solutions Group (ASG) which is in bankruptcy protection, owes EUR238.4 million euros (USD277 million) to 781 creditors, according to court filings. Of this, EUR171 million (USD198.7 million), or almost 72% of the debt, is owed to ASG’s own finance, airline, and holding subsidiaries, while major external creditors include maintenance and leasing providers such as Lufthansa Technik, Boeing, and Willis Lease Finance Corporation.

dermed står ASG kun igjen med SmartLynx Airlines Australia og Thai SmartLynx Airlines.

Hvordan det også går med SmartLynx Airlines Malta (og Estonia) blir spennende å se, selv om de nok trolig går samme veien.
Latvian full-service aircraft leasing company SmartLynx Airlines will cease operations as of Monday, November 24, the company announced in a statement to the media.


The LETA agency reported that at the end of October, a legal protection case was initiated against SIA "SmartLynx Airlines" and a legal protection plan agreed with creditors had to be submitted to the court by February 28, 2026.

On October 28 this year, SmartLynx Airlines had a tax debt of 522,126 euros registered with the State Revenue Service (VID).

Before that, in October this year, the owners of SmartLynx Airlines changed - the company was acquired by the company's management and a specialized investment fund based in the Netherlands.

The Dutch Stichting Break Point Distressed Assets Management currently owns 90% of SmartLynx Airlines' shares, while 5% each is owned by Lithuanian citizens Mindaugas Kazakevičius and Demenius, who are members of the company's board.

Previously, the sole owner of the company was SIA "Smart Aviation Holding", which belongs to "Avia Solutions Group", the true beneficiary of which is Lithuanian business tycoon Gediminas Žiemelis, according to information from "Firmas.lv".

Da er det bekreftet at Thai SmartLynx Airlines og SmartLynx Airlines Australia. Profilene til «Thai» er jo alt endra til BBN Airlines Thailand. Men hva som skjer med Australske selskapet blir spennende da de driver med kommersielle ruteflyvninger også, så hvilket brand vil de benytte til dette?
