Avatar Airlines-svindelen fortsetter

After their offer was rejected by British Airways, ultra-low fare airline start-up Avatar Airlines proposed to buy Thai Airways retiring Boeing 747 fleet.

In October 2020, Avatar Airlines offered British Airways a 22% stake in exchange for its retired fleet of 26 Boeing 747-400s. However, the airline had not raised enough money and the British government refused to process the application.

On November 5, 2020, Thai Airways announced the sale of all 10 of its Boeing 747-400 jets. The company was soon after approached by Avatar Airlines with an intention for purchase. The terms of the offer are still unclear.

“Our offer to Thai Airlines is part of a bigger partnership opportunity that we believe will not only accelerate Avatar’s plans to start flying within 12-18 months, but also position Thai Airways for a codeshare entry into the U.S. market and a long-term relationship between our two companies,” said Avatar’s founder and Chief Executive Officer Barry Michaels in a press release.

De har ikke engang søkt ... Alt de har gjort er å invitere investorer. Hadde de vært seriøse ville de enten vært i luften for mange år siden, eller bankerott. Noen lever godt på dette.
 
Jeg var litt upresis .. de har søkt, men søknadene har hele tiden vært ufullstendige. Sannsynligvis med vilje. Intet seriøst selskap ville feilet på disse punktene.

In order for Avatar to attain a certificate of public convenience and necessity, they would need to fulfill the following criteria:

Have the managerial skills and technical ability to conduct the proposed operations.
Have sufficient financial resources to commence the operations proposed without posing an undue risk to consume.
Comply with the Transportation Code and regulations imposed by Federal and State agencies.

Unfortunately for the startup, the DOT found several “deficiencies” in all three areas mentioned above, making notable mention of lack of documentation regarding funding.

Håper jeg får return on investment snart, hvis ikke gjorde jeg en stor tabbe da jeg valgte Avatar over prinsen fra Nigeria

The Boeing 740-400 is big, it’s roomy and passengers just love the fact that they can actually get up and walk around, as if they were in a large building. Passengers just love the idea of FOUR engines instead of two, the size, comfort and most of all the safety record of this airplane.

Our plan is to start with four Boeing 747-400 aircraft, add eight more by the end of the first year of operations and have purchased a total of 30 by the the end of the third year.

Economy of scale! With one plane (the 747) hauling 581 passengers to their destination we hire TWO pilots to fly it. Since many 737s or A320’s hold just about 130 passengers, it would take four planes and 8 pilots to fly the same load. That means salaries, benefits, training costs, layovers etc., are ALL reduced, making it a much cheaper method to get the passengers from Point A to Point B!

From a pilot prospective, if a four-engine aircraft has an engine failure, the rules allow them to proceed to their destination. A twin-engine airplane has no choice but to land at the nearest SUITABLE airport, capable of landing that plane, whether or not repair services are available. You are not allowed to pick and choose a better place to land that is further away — you MUST land at the nearest airport that you can safely land. Not so with a three or four engine plane!

Når man bare flyr over det kontinentale USA, ser jeg ikke helt logikken selv med det mest skeptiske øye ..

Our plan is to go public within 3–5 years of flight operations to raise capital to purchase 30 new 747-8i aircraft from the Boeing Company. We expect that by such time, the Company will have significant brand recognition, will have greatly improved the perception of the low fare air travel experience, and will have a positive track record of revenue and earnings to justify an IPO. Please note that the Company cannot guarantee these events will happen or that they will in fact result in a successful IPO.

Kjøpe fly som er gått ut av produksjon? Sannsynligheten for at Boeing åpner linja for disse er vel på nivå med at de drar igang MD80-linja igjen ... :p
