Mannen som ga oss 'Airport' - mesterverket (?) som iallefall jeg har lest flere ganger enn noen av Morgan Kane-boekene mine ...

Fra PBB NewsletterArthur Hailey Takes His Final Flight
Finally, before we leave you this week, a tip of the hat to author Arthur Hailey, who died last week at the age of 84.
I know. I know. He wrote pretty formulaic stuff. But he did write "Airport". And let's face it -- where would we airline junkies be without "Airport"?
Described on one site as, "Old-fashioned disaster thriller built around an all-star cast, fairly moronic script, and an unavoidable accident during the flight of a passenger airliner," the movie is, nonetheless, etched in every card-carrying airline junkie's brain.
That's okay Mr. Hailey. We know you didn't write the script, just the book.
Just think. Without Arthur Hailey we never would have come to know Captain Vernon Demarest (Dean Martin), the clichéd womanizing pilot. Or Joe Patroni (George Kennedy), the "Gee nothing can stop me" maintenance guy. Or Gwen (Jacqueline Bisset), the long-suffering flight attendant girl friend of that hard-to-not-like womanizing Vern.
Dean was the man.
