http://startelegram.typepad.com/sky...-390-million-loss-for-the-second-quarter.html

[AMR Corp., the parent company of American Airlines, said Wednesday it lost $390 million in the second quarter due to the weak economy.

Revenues dropped almost 21 percent to $4.8 billion compared to $6.1 billion in the second quarter of 2008. The airline said the decline in revenues was a result of reduced capacity and demand.

The Fort Worth-based company said it estimated that the H1N1 virus hurt its quarterly revenue by about $50 to $80 million.

Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL) today reported a second quarter 2009 net loss of $213 million ($1.72 diluted loss per share). Excluding $44 million of previously announced special charges, Continental recorded a net loss of $169 million ($1.36 diluted loss per share).

Men Southwest tjener penger

DALLAS — Southwest Airlines Co. broke a string of three straight losing quarters by scratching out a small profit in the April-June period despite a downturn in travel.

Demand for business travel remains weak, and "we cannot predict a profitable third quarter," said Chairman and CEO Gary C. Kelly.

Dallas-based Southwest said Tuesday it earned $54 million, or 7 cents per share in the quarter ended June 30, down sharply from $321 million, or 44 cents per share, a year earlier.

Southwest is also cutting its work force, and it announced that 1,400 employees — about 4 percent of its employees — had accepted early-out offers of cash and travel benefits.

UAL Corp (UAUA.O), parent of United Airlines, reported a quarterly profit on Tuesday after big gains from fuel hedges, but said it would cut its international flying capacity by 7 percent to offset sagging demand.

Tommy,

*sjekker om hell has frozen over* UA tjente penger i andre kvartal?

Det er vel noe som mangler her...?

Associated Press;

United Airlines reports $323 million 2Q loss; posts $28 million net profit due to special items

United Airlines (UA) reported a second quarter loss of $323 million Tuesday, the Associated Press reported. Due to fuel hedge gains and other one-time items, UA posted a $28 million second-quarter net profit.

Excluding merger-related expenses and $390 million in realized fuel hedge losses, Delta's net profit was $191 million.

Men AirTran tjener penger

ATLANTA — AirTran Holdings Inc., parent of discount carrier AirTran Airways, on Wednesday posted a $78.4 million second-quarter profit even as revenue fell almost 13 percent.

Chief Financial Officer Arne Haak said at an investor conference in June that AirTran expects to turn a profit for the full year. He didn't offer a specific projection, though he asserted that AirTran should have "one of the best years in the company's history."

Og USAirways klarte et overskudd på $58 mill
Og vurderer å gjøre noe med E190-flåten

Management at US Airways has launched an evaluation of elimination its fleet of 25 Embraer E-190s through direct sales or subleases.
Today during an earnings call with analysts and investors carrier President Scott Kirby said the fleet represents roughly 2.5% of total consolidated capacity at US Airways, and cutting the fleet would give the carrier additional flexibility to reduce its available seat miles.
