I følge Litauens transportminister skyldes interessen for å bli deleier av airBaltic at de ser for seg at selskapet i fremtiden kan bli et nasjonalt flyselskap for alle tre baltiske statene.

Per i dag eies Air Baltic i hovedsak at den latviske staten(97.97% av aksjene) og den danske investoren Lars Thuesen(2.03%) også kjent som eier av Novair.
