passenger aircraft has reportedly crashed in Turkey.
Reports from Turkey say the aircraft was being operated by Atlastjet and it crashed before landing in Isparta shortly before 02:00 while on a flight from Istanbul. The reports say the aircraft was a Boeing MD-80-series type and was carrying 49 passengers and seven crew members. AtlasJet er jo velkjent i Norge og selskapet har flydd mange solhungrige nordmenn til "syden".

Merkelig at det ikke står noe på atlasjet.com - de burde vel hatt en "black-site" liggende.
I følge ATI var det 49 pax og 7 crew ombord, og alle fryktes omkommet. Den aktuelle maskinen skal være TC-AKM (c/n 53185), wet-leaset fra World Focus Airlines. Flyet var eid av AWAS, og ble bygget i 1994. Opprinelig levert til Reno Air som N879RA i august 1994. Har senere fløyet for American Airlines, og diverse tyrkiske selskaper siden 2001. |

Huff, trist nyhet å våkne til. Om ikke annet så er det bra at maskinen ikke var full. Men tragisk uansett...

Triste greier dette her ja. Husker godt AtlasJet fra Sola i sommar oftest med 757 men de var jo innom med MD et par ganger. Har ikke AtlasJet mistet en MD80 tidligere i år også? Eller husker jeg feil.

Nei, du tenker nok paa den egyptiske AMC-maskinen som krashlandet i Istanbul .. fikk foroevrig en kort email fra kapteinen for en tid siden ... totalt elektrisk sammenbrudd inflight .. inkludert backup .. en mindre dyktig pilot hadde ikke overlevd den der ...

PRESS STATEMENT OF MR. TUNCAY DOĞANER, THE CEO OF ATLASJET AIRLINES
30.11.07 First of all, we wish God has mercy on martyrdoms who have lost thier lives. MD83 type passenger aircraft, with flight number KK 4203, belonging to World Focus Airlines, leased by Atlasjet Airlines, took off from Ataturk Airport at 00.50 to fly from Istanbul to Isparta. There were 56 people on board the aircraft. Those were 49 passengers and 7 crew: 2 pilots, 4 cabin attendants and 1 technician. The pilots, cabin chief and flight technician on the flight are the staff of World Focus Airlines, 3 stewardesses from the cabin crew are the staff of Atlasjet Airlines. After take off, communication was established with the tower, over Isparta Airport, the airport was seen, and as from this moment communication with the aircraft has been cut off. At approximately 06.15, we were informed that the aircraft had crashed in the west of Kilinc District, the north of Cukuroren Village, the west of Turbetepe. It has been determined that the aircraft had no technical problem during landing and take-off. After inbound (last approach to the airport for landing), communication with the aircraft was cut off. As from the moment the event was learned, all related units including Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Turkish Air Force and Police Department started working on the event. According to the information rendered at approximately 06.15, the aircraft was found to be on a hill of approximately 5.000 feet in the northwest of the airport. Search and rescue teams tried to reach the venue over-land. Because it is a highland, teams are having difficulty to reach the area. According to the information received from the search and rescue helicopter, no vital sign has been determined up to now. Ministry of Transport, General Directorate of Civil Aviation, our company and the entire Turkish Republic are concentrated on this event. We took all types of measures at the airport; unfortunately, no effort can bring back those who lost their lives. Today at 11.20, Managers of Atlasjet Airlines will depart for Isparta together with the passengers’ relatives. Our return back to Istanbul will be determined in line with the progresses in Isparta. As I have previously mentioned, there is not any bad weather condition. Besides, the weather is moonlit and extremely appropriate for the flight. Our pilots have just returned from trainings and are extremely experienced. It is not a piont at issue that the pilots were sleepless or restless. The fact, why the aircraft could not reach the airport after seeing the airport, will be determined at the end of detailed investigations. As Atlasjet, all the responsibility regarding our passengers belong to us. Further information will be rendered by Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Military officials and General Directorate of Civil Aviation. ![]() Tror jeg så et sted at det var en non-precision aproach, altså uten ILS. Og at ikke alle selskaper lar sine piloter trene særlig på sånt i simulator. Flyet ble vel funnet et stykke til siden av innflygingskursen?

Rart dette, men hver gang noen bærer over seg fordi noen seter og hyller er teipet, eller fordi noen i besetningen er så trøtte at de tar seg en lur for å være opplagt når flyet lander, så kan jeg ikke fri meg fra å tenke at de sikkert har betalt mindre for flyreisen sin enn hva de har betalt for å parkere bilen på noen kvadratmeter plass når de er borte, og at de har brukt mer tid på å finne en webside med en 100 kroner billigere billett, enn å undersøke litt om selskapet som flyr ruten.
Man må forutsette at stort sett alle flyselskapene som trafikkerer EU-land tilfredsstiller myndighetenes minstekrav - og så kan man jo forestille seg hvor langt nede minstekravene er i de forskjellige land, eller om det er noen krav i det hele tatt. Når EU og Norge innfører Subpart Q for hviletidsregler, blir de langt dårligere i Skandinavia enn de var før. Og EU og Luftfartstilsynet må vel vite hva de gjør, siden de ennå ikke har fått gjennomført en vitenskapelig og medisinsk studie av om reglene med 60 timers arbeidsuke er forsvarlige eller ikke. Eller hva? En trøst for alle som vil ha billigst mulige flyreiser må være at flere og flere av de flyselskapene som før hadde større sikkerhetsmarginer også senker eller har senket seg ned til myndighetenes minstekrav for å kunne møte konkurransen og for å tekke passasjerene sine. |

Fly er dyrt å drifte! Det koster å fly! En tanke er at flyet ikke hadde fuel da det krasjet, det brant ikke på ulykkes stedet.
