SAS - Trafikktall September
Pressemelding
Quote:
SAS Group's September 2013 traffic figures
• SAS Group’s capacity (ASK) was up by 5.2%.
• The Group’s traffic (RPK) increased by 1.6%.
• The SAS Group’s load factor decreased by 2.6 p.u. to 73.9%.
• SAS Group carried 2.7 million passengers in September, up 1.1% vs last year.
Group market trends, RASK and yield development
The capacity growth during September was somewhat reduced compared with July and August as SAS adjusted its network and optimized it for the business market. Competition remains intense and the overcapacity has increased on certain European markets.
In line with SAS guidance, currency adjusted yield (Scandinavian Airlines) in August 2013 was down 6.1% and RASK was down 5.2% versus previous year, due to the increased number of longer leisure routes during the holiday season. In September 2013, the change in yield and RASK vs. last year is also expected to be negative. The SAS Group continues to predict a negative RASK trend for the full financial year 2012/13. The capacity increase for the financial year 2012/13 is expected to be approximately 6%.
SAS Group product and news update
• Fast Track security is now available on domestic flights from Oslo, exclusive to SAS and Widerøe customers.
• SAS is one of the first airlines in the world to offer frequent flyer points as payment directly at selected internet shops.
• SAS and Disney have teamed up around the Nordic launch of Disney’s new animated movie ‘Planes’. SAS will be visible in Disney’s Nordic activities and SAS has also painted one of its airplanes with characters from the movie.
Scandinavian Airlines traffic development
• Number of passengers increased 0.3% to 2.4 million.
• Traffic increased by 1.3% and capacity was up 4.8%.
• The load factor was 74.5%, down 2.6 p.u.
SAS increased its capacity by approximately 10% from the Norwegian and Swedish markets in September, resulting in robust traffic growth in these markets. Traffic on intercontinental routes increased 2.6% as capacity was up 3.1%. On domestic routes, traffic was up 1.9%. Adjusted for the closure of Finnish domestic routes, the domestic traffic increased 4.3%.
Widerøe traffic development
Widerøe carried a record of 269,000 passengers in September, up 9.5% vs. last year. The growth was driven by increased capacity of 16.8% due to more frequencies on existing routes and the introduction of Kristiansand-Trondheim and Molde-Copenhagen routes. Traffic increased 13.3% and the load factor was 57.4%, down 1.8 p.u. As SAS sold 80% of Widerøe on 30 September 2013, Widerøe’s traffic figures in October and going forward will not be reported in SAS traffic stats.
