The Boeing 717 is often referred to as the best airplane nobody wanted. Built as the last variant of the venerable DC-9 family, a total of only 155 717s ever entered service. With a small list of eight customers, the aircraft originally marketed as the MD-95 by McDonnell Douglas saw an insufficient level of interest that ultimately led to its cancellation.
