Ryanair sees strong take up of paid inflight TV

Ryanair said Wednesday about 30% of passengers were paying to use its new in-flight entertainment system during initial trials. CE Michael O'Leary said the airline needed 3% penetration to recoup its investment in the entertainment system which it introduced to six aircraft last month. 'At the moment, based on initial trials, it looks like the penetration rate will be 30%,' O'Leary said. The system is being introduced across the airline's entire fleet in April to May next year. Passengers have to pay GBP5/E7 a flight to access movies, cartoons and television shows on the portable units which look like a small laptop.
