SQ slår sammen Scoot og Tigerair under Scoot navnet

Ledelsen i Budget Aviation Holding, som er eiet av Singapore Airlines, har besluttet og slå sammen sine to lavprisselskaper i en AOC og et merkenavn. Det innebærer at Tigerair blir Scoot, og alle deres A320-maskiner vil ble ombranded i 2017

Dette gjelder kun Singapore delen av Tigerair, og ikke enhetene i Taiwan og Australia, som ikke er eiet av Singapore Airlines

SAcoot overtager Tigerair Singapore

Merger with Tigerair[edit]
On 4 November 2016, parent company of Scoot, Singapore Airlines announced a merger of Tigerair and Scoot with Tigerair coming into the Scoot brand.[27] It will allow both airlines to achieve synergies in fare costs and revenue and operate under the same Air operator's certificate or AOC. The merger was completed on 25 July 2017, while the rebranding will leave the joint-venture Tigerair Australia and Tigerair Taiwan intact. Tigerair Australia is 100% owned by Virgin Australia (Virgin Australia retains the Tigerair name and acquire the brand rights for Tigerair to operate to some international destinations from Australia). Tigerair Taiwan is co-owned by China Airlines (80%) and its subsidiary Mandarin Airlines (10%), with Tigerair holding the remaining 10% respectively.[27]

On 25th July 2017, Tigerair was officially merged into Scoot, using Tigerair AOC, but retaining Scoot brand. With the change of AOC, the IATA code was changed from TZ to TR.[1]
