SkyEurope to open eight new Krakow routes
David Kaminski-Morrow, London (23Nov05, 14:02 GMT, 134 words)
Central European budget carrier SkyEurope Airlines is to open eight new routes from its Krakow base, reinforcing its presence in the southern Polish city.
SkyEurope will open services to Brussels and Turin next March. It will follow in April with flights to Birmingham, Edinburgh, Stockholm and Bologna.
Services to Naples and Athens will complete the expansion in June. The airline will also re-open its seasonal service to Barcelona.
It claims that its network increase next year will give it 16 destinations from Krakow, making it the largest operator from the city, overtaking the dominant position of flag-carrier LOT.
To cope with the development it will base four aircraft at Krakow in 2006 – including the first of its newly-ordered Boeing 737-700s.
SkyEurope presently operates from Krakow to London, Paris, Rome, Bergamo, Amsterdam, Manchester and Dublin.
