I moved back to the U.S. quite some time ago and miss plane spotting in Europe , i would like to keep in touch with the local spotters and hopefully exchange interesting pictures of the airliner scene. I am looking for digital pictures size 1600 by 1600 or so. My new home airport is KPHX.

We post pictures on this board all the time.
However I think that not many would post files that big. For one the files are huge and would kill off the board, second the size you mention can easly be printed and/or used for other purpeses than looking at them. Not that I'm saying you would do that off corse. But it's a concern for many.
Many of us have had our images used by other partys without being credited or receved royalties for them. And some even have had cases of images beeing stolen and posted/sold under another name.
