Independence Air CE Barry Skeen said he's not ruling out returning the airline to its roots as a feeder carrier for United. 'Obviously, in this business and this industry - with the shape it's in and with our liquidity crunch - we have to look at every single possibility,' Skeen said. I-Air's largest single shareholder - PAR Investment Partners - has said the airline has a responsibility to its shareholders to submit a proposal to rejoin United's group of regional partners. Still, Keen seems eager to make I-Air work as a standalone company. The carrier split from United this summer. But the carrier hasn't filled seats as quickly as it had hoped and warned this month that bankruptcy is possible sometime next year. As for the future, I-Air says some its flights are 90% full for certain days during the holiday season - a good sign for an airline in desperate need of filling its seats.
