Media in Iceland is reporting that two former WOW Air executives plan to launch an airline in Iceland this fall, which has the working name WAB Air. In reality the airline will likely have a different name, as “WAB” stands for “We Are Back.”

The plan is for the new airline to initially fly six planes to 14 destinations in Europe and North America. In the next 12 months they hope to employ 500 people and fly a million passengers, with revenue over 20 billion krónur next year (~160 million USD).

Aner ikke om dette er WEB eller de andre, men de får med seg noen amerikanere til å ta 49% eierandel i det nye selskapet og har inntil 100 millioner Dollar til rådighet. Michelle Ballarin og Oasis Aviation Group skal stå bak og planen er å begynne med 3 A321neo og ha 10-12 fly etter 2 år

A US-based entity that had reportedly purchased all of the assets contained within WOW air's bankruptcy estate was unmasked by business newspaper Viðskiptablaðið as Michele Ballarin, a North Virginia businesswoman, and Oasis Aviation Group, a company she chairs and whose corporate address is at Washington Dulles.

The whole thing sounded a bit odd, and maybe for good reason? The Iceland Monitor reports that this deal has been called off over failure to pay. A liquidator of WOW Air’s estate said:

“I can confirm that an agreement, which had been reached regarding the sale of these assets, has been canceled. We are, however looking into whether there is reason to negotiate a new agreement with those same parties.

One of the most valuable assets of the estate is a stock of spare parts and things related to the maintenance of Airbus aircraft. These are parts and tools that can be traded all over the world, and are not limited to potential airline operation in Iceland.”

Apparently her company repeatedly failed to make payments for WOW Air’s assets. The value of the assets was around 1.5 million USD, and was to be paid in a few installments.

I don’t really understand the world anymore. So we’re going to see an airline launch flights between Washington and Iceland right before that super popular winter transatlantic travel season. They’ll differentiate themselves by offering a lounge for everyone, biometric boarding, Making Flying Fun Again (#MFFA), and having healthy food thanks to a Michelin chef (because no one is focused quite on healthy dining like Michelin chefs!)?

Det blir ikke levende last med det første

Det islandske flyselskapet WOW Air skulle etter planen ha startet opp passasjerflyvninger i oktober i år, de planene er nå endret.

Michele Ballarin som nå eier selskapet besøkte denne helgen Island, og under besøkt kom det frem at opprettelse av selskapet på nytt med passasjerflyvninger har tatt lengre tid enn først planlagt.

Selskapet skal starte i løpet av fire uker, men det blir for å frakte fisk mellom Island og Washington, ikke passasjerer. På sikt håper eierne at selskapet kan utvide med passasjerflyvninger. I starten blir det satset med to fly som blir i full fraktkonfigurasjon.

Snakk om endring av forretningsplanen; fra å skulle tilby Michelin-måltider ombord til å ende opp med å fly ingrediensene til disse måltidene i stedet. :lol:
 
De sies at gutta bak WAB skal holde en pressekonferanse i Reykjavik i dag. Merk at dette er noen lokale islendinger, som ikke har noe å gjøre med hun tanta i Amerika
