bmibaby kutter på Praha og Barcelona

Fra Business Traveller:

Fierce competition on flights between London and Prague has pushed Bmibaby off the route.
The airline will scrap flights from Gatwick to the Czech capital from the end of October.
Following expansion of the European Union in May, several airlines launched flights to new EU countries, particularly Prague, an already established short breaks and business destination. EasyJet launched a daily Gatwick-Prague flight on April 23, at the same time as Bmibaby. British Airways is another carrier on the Gatwick-Prague route and more recently CSA Czech Airlines announced it is launching flights from the end of October. CSA already flies from Stansted and Heathrow to Prague.
During the summer, Bmibaby fares dipped to around £50 return in what should have been a peak period. A spokeswoman for the airline said competition was strong but says the route will be reconsidered for next summer.
In contrast, Bmibaby's Prague flight out of Manchester has enjoyed success and the service will go to two flights a day from the end of the month.

Other Bmibaby routes that are the casualty of fierce competition are the Barcelona flights from Manchester and Nottingham East Midlands. They will be suspended this month. Bordeaux, Ibiza and Paris flights from Manchester will also disappear for the winter season, but are likely to be reintroduced for next summer.

The airline is hoping to succeed with its new base at Birmingham, with flights to nine destinations launching on January 7.
Fares start at £19.95 to Belfast, Knock and Edinburgh; £24.95 to Amsterdam and £34.95 to Prague, Geneva, Alicante, Malaga and Palma.
