Die Presse, 2DEC:
Vagn Sorensen, head of the Austrian airline company AUA, has admitted that the two increases in kerosene fuel charge supplements since 24 May 2004 have caused its ticket demand to drop. While the actual number of passengers rose by 14% up to September 2004, the company's flight capacity was increased by 20%, resulting in many empty seats. Sorensen has stated that the company will slow down expansion plans for 2005. By February 2005 he hopes to have reduced the capacity by 3% or by 1,100 flights and flights from Bratislava to London will be discontinued.
