Alaska Airlines (AS, Seattle Tacoma International) has ordered an additional B737-10 after selling the B737-9 involved in the January 2024 mid-air door blowout back to Boeing.
The airline is increasing First Class and Premium Class seating capacity to meet growing premium demand.
Alaska Airlines is retiring its 737-900 fleet by June 2025. The first 737-900, N302AS, conducted certification testing in 2000. With N323AS and N315AS already retired, just 10 aircraft remain before this iconic fleet is fully phased out.

The Seattle-based Oneworld alliance carrier has exercised purchase rights for five additional 787-9s from the Hawaiian Airlines orderbook, said Larry Payne, chair of the Hawaiian Airlines Master Executive Council at the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), on the Alaska Pilots Podcast on Wednesday. That brings Alaska's total firm commitments for the long-haul jet to 13 aircraft, plus four already in the fleet, based on its last fleet plan at the end of March.
In addition, Alaska plans to open a Hawaiian 787 pilot base in Seattle in March 2026, and exercised options for 12 additional Boeing 737 MAX 10s, Payne said.

Ser det skrives at 5 av 787-9 ordrene, uvisst om det er Hawaiian eller Alaska sine, skal være endret til 787-10.
Større pax-antall og kortere rekkevidde altså.
