Flybmi looks to be on the brink of collapse as several flights have been cancelled and aircraft are positioned back to the United Kingdom. Several passengers are reporting going through security to learn that their flight has been cancelled, other passengers are unable to check in for their flights tomorrow. Meanwhile, crews and staff are standing by at home for more news.

Current trading and future prospects have also been seriously affected by the uncertainty created by the Brexit process, which has led to our inability to secure valuable flying contracts in Europe and lack of confidence around bmi’s ability to continue flying between destinations in Europe. Additionally, our situation mirrors wider difficulties in the regional airline industry which have been well documented.

“Against this background, it has become impossible for the airline’s shareholders to continue their extensive programme of funding into the business, despite investment totalling over £40m in the last six years. We sincerely regret that this course of action has become the only option open to us, but the challenges, particularly those created by Brexit, have proven to be insurmountable.

“Our employees have worked extremely hard over the last few years and we would like to thank them for their dedication to the company, as well as all our loyal customers who have flown with us over the last 6 years.”

Bmi Regional employed a total of 376 employees based in the UK, Germany, Sweden and Belgium.

Karstad-Jönköping-Frankfurt har gått med to daglige avganger og en i helgen. Nörrköping-München har gått en gang daglig og en i helgen.

Ellers i Skandinavia fløy de Oslo-Aberdeen og Esbjerg-Aberdeen inntil i dag, men de har jo prøvd seg på en del annet også, blant annet norske innenriks - Tromsø-Evenes-Stavanger og Stavanger-Kristiansund.

“The two airlines are separate businesses, operating separate aircraft fleets on their own distinct route networks,” the airline said, “as such, the closure of bmi Regional – which flew Embraer Regional Jet aircraft on routes throughout 12 European countries – has no impact on Loganair’s continued operation, which predominantly uses turboprop aircraft on routes within the UK and in particular to, from and within the Scottish Highlands & Islands.”

Dette er vel de rutene, med unntak av Stavanger-Newcastle, som de to selskapene hadde codeshare på.

Loganair fløy vel for øvrig en Embraer 135 og en 145 innleid fra flybmi. Kanskje deler av flybmi-flåten havner hos Loganair?

DAT vil fly Esbjerg - Aberdeen 4 ganger i uken (1x345xx) fra og med 25. Februar, ligger inne helt til vinterprogrammet. Her i konkurranse med Loganair som vil fly 5 ganger i uken (12345xx).

Nordica har midlertidig steppet inn på kort varsel på Karlstad-Jönköping-Frankfurt allerede fra 18. Februar med en CRJ900.

All passengers with tickets valid from Jönköping-Frankfurt on Sunday Feb. 17 and Monday Feb. 18 will be able to use those on a replacement flight on Monday Feb. 18, departing 07:35 from Jönköping. The plane will be a Bombardier CRJ900 with 88 seats.
