Yesterday morning, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) alerted A321neo operators that there is potential for an “excessive pitch” anomaly. Airbus is introducing a temporary revision to its A321neo flight manuals that would prevent the aircraft from reaching excessive pitch altitudes.

“Excessive pitch” is the issue that plagued the 737 MAX and is what led Boeing to install its MCAS on the type.

The issue is an A321neo landing configuration at extreme aft CG conditions and below 100ft only issue, discovered by Airbus and reported to AESA. Violent maneuvers in for instance a go-around in these conditions can cause a pitch up which the pilots can counteract using their side-sticks. No FBW nose downs or similar is commanded, it’s just the FBW doesn’t neutralize the pitch-up (like FBW using the Airbus style flight laws are supposed to do), the pilots have to do it. Airbus has assisted AESA in issuing the AD which restricts the aft CG used in operational landings until the ELAC software is updated.

Slik jeg tolker og leser det er en av årsakene bak dette Airbus sin nye «flex cabin» løsning. Litt forenklet så får de da stappet inn mer «stæsj» og komprimert både galley og doer bakerst i kabinen. Dette igjen påvirker centre of gravity.

Ja det er vel "motsatt" problem, På A321NEO griper FBW ikke inn når den skal, mens MAX griper den inn når den ikke skal..
