I følge Litauens transportminister skyldes interessen for å bli deleier av airBaltic at de ser for seg at selskapet i fremtiden kan bli et nasjonalt flyselskap for alle tre baltiske statene.

Per i dag eies Air Baltic i hovedsak at den latviske staten(97.97% av aksjene) og den danske investoren Lars Thuesen(2.03%) også kjent som eier av Novair.

De hadde i 2023 en positiv EBIT på ca €80 millioner, altså før renter og skatter. Og hadde natto finanskostnader i 2023 på €46 mill, så sselv med leasing, er det tydelig at the €200 millioner lånet heller ikke var noe rentefritt lån
